Marcus Buchecha will have a big test ahead of him when he returns to action against “Reug Reug” Oumar Kane at the upcoming ONE: Reloaded card on April 22.

ONE Championship officials confirmed the matchup to MMA Fighting on Wednesday.

Recognized as one of the most decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu stylists in history, Buchecha has been very impressive since making his move from grappling to MMA. The 32-year-old submission wizard made quick work of his first two opponents in ONE Championship, dispatching Anderson “Braddock” Silva and Kang Ji Won in less than five minutes of total cage time.

Training out of American Top Team, Buchecha is considered one of the top prospects in the heavyweight division, but he’ll certainly have a sizable opponent standing across from him in April.

Kane — better known by his nickname “Reug Reug” — is a Senegalese wrestler who also made the move into MMA after a lengthy career in his previous sport. “Reug Reug” picked up three wins in a row after transitioning to fighting with a pair of victories under the ONE Championship banner.

When he returns in April, “Reug Reug” looks to bounce back from his first loss, a TKO setback against Kirill Grishenko in April 2021 that came after he was unable to continue following the second round.

Record padding, Reug reug is trash

I mean its not a bad booking since Buchecha is just starting at mma but yeah he should be able to get him down and sub him.

Lol. What a joke of a matchup. Buchecha subs him in the first minute or so.

ONE jumped off the Reug Reug train quick if they’re feeding him to Buchecha lol

lol, This is the first time I have heard about asianess. I guess the other races are just the opposite.

Might be somewhat difficult for Buchecha to get him down tbf. This is his first wrestler.

Buchecha was originally scheduled to face Reug Reug in April 2021, before Reug Reug's loss to Grishenko.

Anyways, Buchecha wins as easily as Josh Silveira did against Mohamed Juma. Which is to say, Reug Reug is likely to give Buchecha quite the fight, and Reug Reug may even have his moments. He's a big man with a lot of power, and it's not going to be so easy for Buchecha to find the takedown.

Buchecha can sub Reug Reug from his back or from any where he wants to, though. He is one of the highest level bjj practicioners to ever transition to mma (i know you already know this). The difference in grappling is abismal.

I agree that he'll get it done, i just wonder what happens if Reug Reug decides to stand and swing.

Doubt much happens, he might even find himself on the losing end of that equation. For as big and imposing as Reug might be, his striking is pretty much just arm flailing, the kind of poor technique that will hinder whatever natural power he has.

He shines with his ground and pound and slams, and only one of those might be viable against Buchecha.

This is going to be good! Reug Reug is a strong wrestler with good GnP and TDD, quite different from Buchecha's previous opponents. I'm curious to see how this fight plays out.
