I just joined the JJgear forum and I read there is a possibility that Marcello Garcia is opening a gym in NYC. If not most likely on the east coast. Wo here would love to train with him? I am hoping he is coming to NYC i would be kool as hell to have him here.

That would be cool ....... Please post if you hear any more .

i'd love to train with marcelo...but im not ready to defect from renzo's. if he was doing a seminar i'd definitely hit it up.

Marcelo's wife Tatiana has indicated that he would be opening up a gym on the east coast. Other than that general assessment, any other talk about a specific location is sheer speculation at this time.

In any case, isn't there already an Alliance BJJ gym in NYC? Why would Marcelo want to open up his gym in NYC and compete with the existing Alliance gym?

Yea, it would be sweet if he opened a school in new york, but mutt is probably right.

From what i am hearing Alliance under fabio is really pissed off because he is considering comng to NY, from what I hear from people I know that train there is that now he is trying to change affiliation with Chute Boxe he has a guy there going a few times a year to LA to train with the Chute Boxe guys. I could be wrong but this is what the word is around from his students I know. Also I heard on the underground forum is he is really close to closing down due to lack of students, so there are a few rumors going around Alliance NYC!!!

I read that he has a habit of switching teams he was 1st machado Rp here then switched to Alliance and possibly now Chute Boxe.

Thats why I wrote he might be comng to NY I know at this point it is speculation, I am just hoping!!!!

Your hoping . I'm praying it happens .Zenshin , Please post if you hear any more !

I understand and have no problems with you posting about your hopes and dreams... but its quite another thing to spread rumors and innuendo about Marcelo (including spreading rumors of a possible defection/betrayal).

The thread on JJ Gear that you're talking about merely consists of some New Yorkers begging Tatiana (Marcelo's wife and a regular poster on the board) to open up a location in NY. This is as far from reliable information as you can get.

I have trained and spoken with Marcelo on several occasions in the recent past... while I am no "insider" regarding information of his future plans, he has always struck me as being a kind and LOYAL person. He speaks with fondness and respect about Alliance BJJ and Jacare Calvacanti (the older one). He has spoken to me about how Jacare looked out for him and his career (including endorsements and sponsorships). Given this fact, as well as the fact that Fabio (Alliance BJJ NYC) only recently hosted a seminar by Marcelo (I believe it was in December or January)... I'm wary of all of the things that you have "heard".

In any event, even if your speculation is true... why would you want to train with an instructor who betrayed his long time friends and mentor (even if he was a world class fighter)? How much loyalty would that instructor have for you (some stranger in America)? Helping you reach your full potential in BJJ would certainly not be a priority for some one like this.

Have you read what I wrote when I started this thread!!!! I said "there is a chance he might be coming to NYC" I also continued to say that he is " If not most likely on the east coast"

I dont care who you have spocken or trained with just keep the sarcasm out of your writing, I did not try to disrespect you and I would appreciate you not disrespecting me!!!

The info I heard came from 2 people at his school who said he is looking for an affiliation with Chute Boxe I clearly said I can' t be sure!!! I also heard from some people on the Underground forum that he is planning on closing the doors to his studio because of lack of enrollment, I never promised anything I clearly said it is all speculation that I heard from students and forums.

What is it too you who I want to learn from? If the rumors are true that Fabio is closing down it leaves NYC open to a new Alliance school doesnt it? Even if he does open a gym to compete with Fabio's whats the big deal!!! It is business he has every right to open a gym anywhere he wants it's a free market!!!

I don't want to stat a whole big argument, I just dont like people trying to flame me for no reason, I am sharing info from what I read and heard nothing more, your taking it to a whole new level.

Relax this is simply an internet forum and I'm not arguing with you. There's no reason to take anything on an internet forum personally and I don't see how I have disrespected you in any way. I'm not flaming you neither. Sarcasm is in the eye of the beholder... and if my writing seemed overly sarcastic then I apologize. I'm just asking that you don't spread unsubstantiated rumors that inadvertently attacks Marcelinho's reputation and character.

Leaving one team for another is no small deal... it's seen as stabbing his teammates and instructors in the back. Especially if he chooses to move to NYC. You're right... he has every right to do business and compete wherever he wants against whoever he wants. Yet competing with an old teammate of yours (in the process leaving your instructor), whom you have trained with and battled with for many long years, is seen as a morally "sketchy" thing to do.

An analogous situation would be that legally I can sleep with my neighbor's wife. However, would that make it right? Put simply, all I'm saying is that we should all refrain from "speculating" when it unfairly casts a bad light on such a great guy. Yes, I have read your posts on this thread.

Then I aplogize, I guess I read too much into what you said. I thought it would be good writing to share with the forum, if it could possibly make any trouble then I apologize, like I said earlier what I heard about fabio is from students and forums so it is all speculation.

I never attacked Marcelinho's reputation of character, never did when I was talking about leaving Alliance to go to Chute Boxe it was about FABIO CLEMENTE team not his, all I said about Marcelinho's is there is a chance he is possibly opening a gym in NYC nothing more.

Again I apologize, don't want to cause any trouble.

Only when it comes to Krav Maga :icon_chee :icon_chee.

All joking aside, I suggest not to take things too personal here. IT'S SHERDOG for chrissake's. While I wholeheartedly disagree with you on the KM issue, you're a grappler and thus, we can get along.

Sorry to hijack.

LOL!!!!

My traning and understanding of KM comes from a broad source of people from Europe and Israel, if most of you KM guys could understand what is going on, then you could understand a lot more where I am coming from lol. Personally I can not stand John and Darrin, they are great business men nothing more, there the reason Israeli MA has such a bad name and allowed all the Mcdojo's to teach it. LOL, but it's all kool!!! I know my past taining came from the best in the business and thats all that matters.

BTW I am not a grappler more Thai-boxer !!!! LOL

We are all entitled to our opinions if you love your training in KM continue it, just be moe open-minded and consider others in KM or Israeli MA to train with and don't let that forum of there's polute your mind. It's all kool bro!!!!
