The finish line wasn't set up well for a marathon and when the first woman was about to finish a guy kicked it in and went ahead of her and broke the finish line tape that was supposed to be for her.

She calls him an at-hole.

There is a video of it on the link above.

Really it wasn't the guy's fault. I am not sure what he was supposed to do. He was probably trying to break 2:53 and wanted to make sure he was going to do that. The other side of the cones was for half marathon finishers.

I did something very similar to this in a half marathon that was on TV. I sprinted past the first woman right at the finish because I wanted to break a certain time. I didn't care that I was racing the first woman. I doubt I even knew she was the first woman. My friends bring that clip up from time to time.

Screw the complainers. Guy is trying to put up his best time. Yeah, he can slow down if he wants to be extra courteous, but frankly his having his best time should supersede the experience of someone breaking the tape.

Equal rights. Women can do everything a man can do. et al.

Exactly. He's supposed to run slower so she can feel good about herself? Is this a race or not?

She came 37th. Good job.

He was the 36th placed man FFS. What a joke.

36th place is competitive as hell in any serious run. That's just more evidence that this guy's efforts for a best time should be respected and anyone who thinks he should slow down for any reason other than safety should STFU.

Whats the guy supposed to do, dive under the tape or hurdle it lol

My point is we shouldn't be trying to pretend she won something. She came 37th.

Well, I respect the fastest woman in any race. But any woman who calls a guy an asshole for running his fastest is the bad sport, not him.

This isn’t a team sport lady. You want to break the tape? Grow a penis or push yourself harder.

He should have just yelled back “I’m a woman today”

What else is hot in marathon news today, TS? I just saw a fucking horse kick another fucking horse in the fucking face and fucking kill it stone dead. You got anything like that (because that's necessary)?

Artist's rendition of the scene thirty seconds later...

She should run into the kitchen and make that man a sandwich.

9 and 1/2 minute miles is a winner? obvously this is click bait no one should care about. I didn't catch the title of the marathon but is it the north dakota seasonal warmup marathon?

I am not sure what you are talking about. She and the guy averaged about 6:36 pace per mile.

It isn't world class or anything. Pretty good time for a local woman runner. And the guy qualified for Boston, which is a respectable goal for many people who run marathons.

The article doesn't mention he ran ahead of her the entire way carrying this sign.
