Social Manufacturing and the American Dream: A simple poll on manufacturing sums America up perfectly

"We need to bring home more manufacturing jobs but I sure as hell am not working in manufacturing."

What a dilemma. I wonder what a solution could be....

That just shows the laziness imo or what they think manufacturing jobs are. I'd be curious to know where this poll was conducted. Obviously manufacturing jobs are great for average working class. But people in New York City probably don't have manufacturing around them at all. Growing up in a town of 2500... totally different. Strange result imo.

Manufacturing wages are not enough for today’s economy. Manufacturing jobs in America are a thing of the past.
This is what gets me. We have enough jobs. Unemployment is on average really low. We do not lack jobs, we lack jobs that keep up with cost of living. Having more manufacturing here would simply increase the already out of control cost of living all to increase while adding to what we already have an excess of which is low paying jobs. Shit simply raising minimum wage would have a greater benefit to the population than these tariffs.

Most people think manufacturing looks like this:

It doesn't. Modern factories & manufacturing look a lot more like this:

Tons of computers and high tech automated machines everywhere which all need skilled, educated workers to keep them running. These are all well paid technician & engineering jobs and you'll also need a bunch of process engineers and metrology guys to make sure everything is in spec, so more high paying jobs. Modern manufacturing ain't the slave labour sweatshop shit of the 19th century, you need a serious tech/engineering background to run the machines so these are all mid to high paying jobs. It's not unskilled minimum wage work like many people think.

Not shocking take a poll about how we should need service jobs that pays the minimum amount, I bet the numbers will be about the same if not more different.

It makes sense, the typical American has delusions of grandeur and that type of work is "beneath" them. But you can't have it both ways, more American made stuff but no one wanting to take the job.

And that's also a problem, no one gives a fuck about paying fair wages. Every business/corporation owner needs 57 mega yachts and 108 mansions and 788 sports cars apparently, can't afford to pay someone enough so they aren't worried about rent, or bills, or food. It's absolutely fucked.

Lol, did you think those numbers were supposed to match? If 25% of the country would be better off if they had a manufacturing job, then the 80% are correct that it would be better for the country to have 25% of people having better jobs.

TS' mind is really going to be blown when he finds out that the numbers are almost the same for medicaid. Only like 20% are on it themselves, yet 77% say the program is beneficial.

Accusing people of laziness for not ascribing to your fantasy is laziness lol.

You might as well start talking about how boomers worked so much harder or something

Point being, the onus is on employers to convince employees that manufacturers is a worthwhile job, as opposed to working at Amazon or any dozens of other options these days.

The idea that bringing manufacturing to the US would be helpful is in large part a pipedream.

We don't even have enough young people of working age to cover construction and other labor we need- we will have to get more immigrants if we want the labor-intensive type of manufacturing.

There are a lot of other manufacturing challenges (such as those with medications) that just are not going to be met in the US, items that are in Trump's tariff; they will have short- and long-term loss. They won't help in the long run because the factories will never come back.

You overstate the case here. Low‑tech, labor-intensive manufacturing remains significant in China, especially in sectors such as textiles, apparel, footwear, and certain electronics assembly. Not as much as it once was, but it is far from all high tech. It's moving in the direction of automating those jobs, but it has a way to go.

Good lord. I knew you were dumb but this is comical.

You don't just have the comprehension skills of a two year old, you're completely retarded.

Keep working with reading and numbers.
And yet again you completely humiliate yourself with a retarded OP based on you not understanding how numbers work, and after getting laughed at, spaz out and have another meltdown. Thank God your mom got you that helmet.

"Derp, but how can a majority say something would be beneficial if lawyers wouldn't quit their job for a factory job"?

This is probably the funniest mental breakdown I've seen in a while. I can't even imagine how someone could be this stupid.

Here, let me walk you through this slowly. What you're claiming in the following statement is that the 80% from the first question is distinct from the 25% in the second question:

Lol, did you think those numbers were supposed to match? If 25% of the country would be better off if they had a manufacturing job, then the 80% are correct that it would be better for the country to have 25% of people having better jobs.

Do you know what that would mean? The 20% from the first question would have to be equal to the 25% in the second question. Can you finish this line of reasoning all on your own? Probably not. I'll do it for you.

If the 20% from the first question is the same as the 25% from the second question then the same set of people simultaneously believe the following:

1. Disagree that Americans would be better off with more manufacturing jobs,
2. Would be better off if they worked in a factory.

Now, I know you're probably not going to understand the above. That's ok. You're just very, very dumb.

I'll have to remember this one for your next embarrassing display.

Almost forgot your picture:
