Michelle Rodriguez to Star in Gender-Swap Action Thriller TOMBOY

Fast and Furious star Michelle Rodriguez will go under the knife for Tomboy, A Revenger's Tale, the gender-swapping action movie to be directed by Walter Hill. Sigourney Weaver is already on board to also star in the project. The project initially had Frieda Pinto involved.

The script, written by Hill from a story by Denis Hamill, centers on an ace assassin who is double-crossed by gangsters and falls into the hands of rogue surgeon known as "The Doctor," who turns him into a woman. The hitman (now a hitwoman) sets out for revenge, aided by a nurse named Johnnie, who also has secrets. Rodriguez is to play the hitman while Weaver is the scalpel-wielding doctor when the cameras roll November 9 in Vancouver.

Tomboy will mark the first movie Rodriguez has toplined in quite a while. The actress is known for her work within large casts, mostly in the action and sci-fi sphere with the Fast franchise, the Resident Evil movie series, the Machete flicks and Avatar.

Michelle Rodriguez looks ready for revenge in the first-look image of Tomboy, a Revengers Tale. The Furious 7 star plays a hitman who, after he’s turned into a woman by a rogue plastic surgeon (Sigourney Weaver), sets out on a mission of revenge. Walter Hill directed the crime thriller, which is currently in production, from a script by Denis Hamill.

Saban Films Lands Michelle Rodriguez Gender-Reassignment Thriller TOMBOY

Saban Films has acquired North American rights to Walter Hill’s gender-reassignment crime thriller Tomboy, A Revenger’s Tale.

Written by Hill and Denis Hamill, the film stars Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar, the Fast and the Furious franchise) as a male assassin who gets double-crossed by gangsters and finds himself in the hands of a rogue surgeon known as The Doctor who turns him into a woman. The hitman, now a hitwoman, sets out for revenge.

Sigourney Weaver, Tony Shalhoub, Anthony LaPaglia and Caitlin Gerard round out the cast.

"Tomboy is a unique and clever film which will take the audience on a cool adventure,” Saban Film’s Bill Bromiley said Monday in a statement.
