So I want to make my heavy bag even heavier by putting in 2 10 pound plates on the top to make it swing a bit less.
Does this make any sense or is it going to somehow mess up the cloth thats already inside the bag?

Anyone ever try this before?

Never done it. I would get a heavier bag. Or you could unpack it and mix in some sandbags at different depths, but it will be difficult to pack it back up tightly. I think bag manufacturers use a hydraulic press. I would be concerned about the stress on the straps or where the chains connect to the bag, especially with the top plates, but also some with the sand bag method. Thinking only the top 6" -12" of the bag packing would be compacted by the top plates. Also will affect the swing, which may make movement awkward when hit. Suggest placing the weights on top with a lot of Gorilla Tape and see how it performs.

I picture these weights slowly traveling down the bag until one day, BAM.

Is this a muay thai bag that goes to the floor? If so, set it in a tire on the ground.

It makes No sense at all if you want to make a bag swing less put more weight on the bottom and din5 have it hung from a chain keep it closer to the ground and put a four chain on it instead of one going up meaning to stop a bag from swinging use the four rings on top and ideally wrap it around a surface or beam up top this will keep it in place more .

that's not what he meant he means the weight will travel inside the bag to the middle and one day I am going to hit the iron plate directly and hurt my hand.

either way I have decided against it.

He definitely meant that but if you really want to hit harder keep center lower gravity and put it ona four chain steel beam so it doesn’t move this will mimick a human body and add to resist punching……but if you don’t like my advice listen to that guy bc he has no idea what he’s talking about I’ve been boxing since 1991 .
