Making fun of the way a fighter speaks is stupid.

is there anything about any one else we make fun of "not" stupid?

Imitating Anderson isn't mocking him, it's endearing.

"shael no hespect na-thing"

I honest to god thought Nate had a mental disability when he was on TUF.

There's some serious drama queens up in this forum! All guys, too! SMH!
Of course you wouldn't understand it. But speech disabilities are a serious thing and it's a real douche thing to demean a person because of it.

Whether it's the Diaz brothers and their heavy slurs and lisps, or Anderson Silva and his Brazilian accent, you can be assured Sherdog/Douche bags with computers will have a field day about it. Because suddenly it's cool to make fun of something a person has no control over. Those are the weakest disses imaginable, because unlike anything else you can try and improve, this is something most people will have to stick with for the rest of their lives and it's likely they have already had to deal with plenty of grief over that fact. I know it first hand because I have a pretty bad lisp myself, and I've dealt with actual full fledged bullying because of it. These types of insults can completely wreck your self confidence and really mess up the way you see and interact with people. So if you shit talk a fighter over the way they speak, I think you're a shitty human being.

People don't make fun of Anderson's english at his expense. It's because it's genuinely funny and Anderson is in on the joke. Come on, he's one of the ATG trolls. You really think he meant to say "I back"?

What do you expect from a bunch of idiots who would applaud Conor for out trash talking a couple of Brazilians who can't speak English too well.

Remember when Karo was going to "slap the shit out of those retards because they have no idea who I am"?

LOL now that's funny.

I like Nate, I like him a lot actually. But I remember thinking at the time like "do the commissions really let people with disabilities fight??"

I don't think he is an idiot or anything now, but he did come off as "special" a lot in that season. I think he might have been really camera shy and anxious or something

The Diaz brothers hangout with knuckle draggers who probably barely notice that they have a social/speech impairment. I doubt they get made fun of much. It's not like they hang out on the campus of Harvard University where their speech impediments and lack of social grace would stick out like a sore thumb.

Anderson and Shogun get mocked because it's funny that 2 killers have voices like 5 year olds. I'ma fan of both guys, but it's just funny.

I trainy, I eaty, I zleepy.

Like it or not, we're a COMMUNICATIVE species and your ability to communicate with others through talking is one of the most important skills a human being has.

If you sound like an idiot, people are going to assume you are an idiot. That's just the way it is. So no, making fun of the way someone speaks is not stupid.

He is more than likely mildly slow. Fighting isn't rocket science. Fighting is repetition and intuition. Being a good fighter doesn't generally correlate with high intelligence. Just as there are many good college football and basketball players who can't learn basic algebra, there are many good fighters who aren't strong mentally yet they are able to excel in their sport to do high repetition and fighting instinct. Exhibit A. The Diaz brothers
