I'd assume 5 but it was closer to 48-47 Volk than it was 49-46 Islam. 48-47 with the 2nd being close but can understand why it was given to Islam.

100% I had it 48-47 Islam as much as I wanted volk to become a God in Aussie land meaning more fights down under.

49-46 is terrible imo.

Scoring since 2018 is based on damage and Volkanovski didn't do any damage until the 5th. He had a good 3rd round, and hand some control time in the 5th, but that doesn't win a fight, and the result reflected that.

That's why Volk was so pissed off on the ground in round 4, he knew he had blown the fight. Islam was gassing and Volk was pressing the advantage, but a momentary lack of discipline cost him.

The takedowns Volk was stuffing did more damage to Islam than any of his strikes.

But Volk finished in beast mode in that 5th round. Islam was clock watching that whole round. Islam won, but Volk had an impressive showing. Islam had back control but was unable to deal any meaningful damage or threaten with submissions.

Volk said it himself, he didn't respect Islam's striking enough, which was very crisp.

In a rematch, I think Volk would fare well. If he pushed the pace on the feet earlier in round 1, he could have won.

Yeah, I guess the moral victory comes from him doing better than the vegas odds predicted. But he still lost both the fight and his P4P status.

Really generous? 3, 5 for Volk, rest was Islam. 2 was close but Islam in my eyes took it, relatively easy fight to score albeit my bias might have made that 2nd closer than it actually was. Would have to watch the 2nd again.

Islam rounds that he won are the rounds that he landed takedowns in, which secured the close rounds for him. Volk landed more strikes overall, staggered islam once in round one, and dropped islam in round 5.
