Can you believe Makdessi landed more sig strikes than Cerrone???

I put not an insignificant sum on Cerrone landing more sig strikes because this was the fucking lock of the century. If Cerrone did happen to lose (unlikely) he would almost certaint have landed more strikes on the way.

Makdessi 72 sig strikes
Cerrone 71 sig strikes.

Cerrone TKO roun 2.

No I don't know the point of this thread other than I feel robbed.

Side point: Shouldn't that win have been by submission?

FYI Fightmetric ling below,

Can anyone else say that they thought this was the case? ie Makdessi landing more?

Makdessi was whooping that foot with his face.

no. the only strike that counts is the one that stopped the fight.

stoppage due to physical injury is usually given a TKO even if the fighter quits.

Not all significant strikes are created equal.

Cerrone's significant strikes were a lot more "significant" than Makdessi's.

I would have rather taken the shots Makdessi threw than the ones Cerrone threw.

Why did Makdessi only throw lefts? I didn't see any right hands. It was weird. I think his right hand was hurt, but he just couldn't turn down this opportunity.

So I was wondering this earlier with the Benavidez-Moraga fight, and now this.

What is technically considered a 'signature strike' in MMA? Makdessi threw almost nothing but a jab, a short lead hook, and a couple nice leg kicks while Cerrone was landing huge leg kicks, knees to the body, a straight right hand, elbows...

not only did he not outstrike cerrone, but he got finished.

bendo on the other hand did outstrike him.

The step in elbow Cerrone landed was the shit. Any other man would have been out the first minute. John has a hard fucking head.

For god's sake, stfu about "significant" strikes." It's not a real statistical/quantifiable value. It's the dumbest shit ever. And then people like you create posts as if it's a real figure. No, it's a moron that watches the fight and says..."uh, yeah, that was significant. That one, not." Stop acting like this is baseball or football where you can objectively place value on a hit (single, double, triple, ect.), or a pass attempt.

Dude if you can bet on it it is quantifiable to some degree at least.

If I was using to prove Makdessi was the better fighter, sure object as much as you like. But this is a bet I lost when the numeric results came back and the numbers weren't in my favour.

Considering his right hand may have been too injured to use as much as his left hand and the short notice he had for this fight, Makdessi honestly did pretty damn good.

Watching the fight, Cowboy landed significantly more strikes than Makdessi.
There's voodoo at work here.
