Most people seem to be writing Brown off in this one, ok so he's up against the best bjj guy in the division who also has damn good takedowns and teh Immortal has a lot of sub losses on his record but none since 2011 and he dropped a lot of bodies since then, gave Lawler a hell of a fight and put in a decent performance against Hendricks too but got dominated by Johnys wrestling afaicr.

But lest we forget that the Immortal one is absolutely relentless with his attacks, an extremely violent man who never lets up until the end. So basically is there any man among you giving the immortal one a chance?

Brown's relentless pressure and love for the clinch seem like a recipe for disaster against Maia.
Demian is also tough as shit, so I think eventually he will single leg or bodylock Matt and the mauling will begin.

I found it very difficult to masturbate to this thread

...but I managed somehow.

I mean, Brown can always fuck you up on the clinch, but I don't like his chances. Don't count him out though.

people picking maia really doesn't have much to do with brown. brown's awesome, we all know that. but maia at 170 has shown that he can make high level fighters look like beginners.

plus, maia is running out of time. if he doesn't make it to a title shot in this run, he probably never will. i really hope he wins this.

Brown gas tank could be a real problem for Maia.

That being said If Maia manage to trip him, it's over

what do they do if Maia & Wonderboy win

Brown loves the clinch and Maia will take full advantage of it. We better see k1 Brown or I don't see him having to much success.

I think Matt has great betting odds. Maia is outstanding and could very well grapple him to death like the others. But if he can't get the sub and can't hold Matt down for most of the rounds then Matt has a good chance to win just like the other guys who have beaten Maia.

Brown doesn't beat top competition. Maia subs him in round 2, after controlling him on the ground in round 1.

Very interesting fight but if I had to bet I would say that Maia will have to weather a heavy barrage of strikes before getting the win

Matt´s style is awesome , pretty dificult to fight like him and extremely dificult to deal with ... we all know that Matt´s best chance is to keep it on the feet cause Maia has one the best BJJ in MMA no matter what divisions we talk about.
I dont want neither guy to loose , i just hope both guys put on a great performance keeping themselfes relevant in the division , but imo Matt doesnt have the footwork to keep it on the the feet and prevent Maia from bringing the fight to the ground ... so i think Maia will win.

Looking forward to this fight; Maia by convincing dec . He's a beast at ww.
And on an unrelated topic , TS what the fak is up with your av??

I want them to give it to Maia, and let wonderboy fight one more. Maia is a known name to challenge for the title and I really think an impressive win should give him a shot. If wonderboy gets the shot I wouldn't be upset.

Matt's aggressive with that clinch...ask Chael about clinching up with Maia.

WB vs Nick Diaz or Carlos Condit
Maia vs champ
You really think so? WB would have defeated Hendricks and Rory and I think style-wise the UFC brass would prefer to have a champion that stands'n'bangs rather than the ultimate grapplefucker.

Stand 'n' Bang hints at a brawler to me and WB is as technical and calculated asnthey come so I'd imagine he wants to stand and destroy Rory (I hope Rory makes a fight out of it).

Lol at "grapplefucker".

This.

People need to forget about Maia getting a title-shot, for several reasons.

a) He's pushing 40 and there are younger, more marketable contenders available.
b) While dominant, his style only really applies to hardcore grappling fans - your casual PPV buyer is NOT going to spend money to watch Maia gorilla-fuck someone for 25mins.
c) The last time he fought for a UFC title, while not being his fault, it was an absolute stinkfest of a fight and these sort of things stick in the minds of guys like Joe Silva and Dana.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it, but believe me, if Wonderboy beats Rory, he's getting the shot. Not Maia.

It's probably my bias taking. I really want to see Maia get a TS.
