He wins over Brown (which I think is likely due to his amazing ground work. What he did to Magny and Nelson was brilliant grappling)

How far away is Maia from a title shot. He's been a favorite of mine for years and while many fans dislike his ground based offense...a great deal others appreciate it.

With welterweight at a bit of a bottleneck...Woodley, Wonderboy, Rory, Maia...McGregor(kidding)

Who is up next for a TS and does a Brown win set Maia up for one next?

I have zero prob with him getting the next nod.

When he's on point, he can beat any man in the division.

With the way Joe Silva does matchmaking these days who honesty knows. Probably not though I could see them putting Condit and Wonderboy/Rory in title fights before him.

As a fan of Maia, I really don't want to see him standing across the cage from Robbie Lawler. He'd probably get fucked up badly if he didn't manage to hit a takedown, which seems improbable with respect to Lawler's iron-clad takedown defense. But yes, he could hypothetically be given the shot. I just don't think it's likely for them to make that fight if he wins because casuals would likely have zero interest in that fight (UFC 171 did only 300k PPVs).

He's not invincible, but yeah, I was honestly shocked at how easily he handled Rory on the ground. You could tell Rory wasn't trying to grapple with him after that. Rory's hardly some bum grappler as he managed to last 20 minutes with a monster in JT Torres without being submitted, and even tried to leglock JT which is a ballsy move.

If he beats Brown, he should have a #1 contender fight with no doubt

If some injuries happen, he maybe gets the title shot only beating Brown

Not really a fan of how the UFC has treated him lately.

He's been fringe top 5 for over a year and the UFC has given him 3 straight opponents that where barely ranked and trying to use Maia as a stepping stone in the top 10 (LaFlare, Nelson, and Magny).

He beat all there asses and now the UFC is finally forced to give him a step up (he's been fringe top 5 for over a year and is almost 40, not exactly sure what the UFC is waiting for ?).

I've never seen the UFC so scared to give a someone a top 10 fight

2 wins away from TS.
Beats Brown
Beats 1 one more contender
TS

I'd be perfectly happy with a title shot post Brown fight presuming he wins it

I love Demian Maia. One of my favorite grapplers. However, Rory or Wonderboy would end him.
