Anyone else here enjoy watching Maia methodically cinch in dat RNC as much as I did!?

Speaking as a fan since witnessing Royce Gracie take out opponents twice his size with his BJJ, I am a fan of seeing a fighter win a fight with his bread and butter...in this case BJJ, as well.

Not sure if Maia can make it through the gauntlet of monsters in his weight class to gain the belt, but I would thoroughly enjoy watching the gold wrapped around his waist some day!

Who's in!?

Bizarro (as in "opposite") Conor for the win!

His UFC.com profile quote is befitting:

"My favorite technique is to submit my opponent without him hurting me or me hurting him."

His takedown attempts might not be enough for the top, but he seems to find a way that man, nicest guy in MMA, i admire his way of working for something until it god damn works haha.

Hilariously accurate, in more ways than one.

One of my absolute FAVE fighters.

Truly one of the NICEST and most humble dudes in MMA, and a legit Jiu Jitsu WIZARD.

Fantastic. Maia is this exact quote personified.

He's a true artist, in its most classic definition. Not only that, he's a nice, humble guy who doesn't pretend to be respectful. It's simply who he is.

its interesting to me how composed and methodical he is, in a situation as crazy as a fight. most of the time in his fights his opponents can literally do nothing against him.

i enjoy his takedowns and trips, rather than some kind of insane bullrush he is just unbelievably persistent and eventually he capitalises on some small mistake. would be hella interesting to see him against palhares in an mma match

Now that was uncalled for. Judging by your AV, I could answer it with something along the lines of "stocktonslap.gif", but I'll pull a Demian Maia and just ignore it.

Go ahead mate, my AV was switched when the new Reebok deal on Sherdog took place. I had a Jones one before, been too lazy to change it.

oh btw

You bastard, you had to come up with Matt Serra. You're going to hell for this one.

Was going way before that mate. But good on ya' for being a man about this situation, was fully expecting to get into a Sherdog fight tonight.

Would have liked your post too btw but I got a yellow card. Would have edited my above post as well but...

That fight was beautiful to watch. Maia is a true master, and Brown defended for a lot longer than I thought he would have.

Huge Maia fan. I love his grappling clinics. One-sided fights usually suck, but his are just great to watch.

Smart dedicated true hardcore fans of mma:
"Maia is fantastic and exciting when it comes to the grappling game. He utterly shuts down and dominates his opponents and is constantly earning points as well as looking for the finish and many times getting it. In the world of MMA, Maia is one of the top 5 P4P GOAT's ground kings."

Dumbass Shertards that think they are true fans and know what they are talking about:
"omg Maia so boring all he does is lay on guys like Jon Fitch lolol what a rookie can't even score a devastating flash KO against guys whose strengths are in the standup WHY WOULDNT HE STAND AND TRADE WITH THOSE GUYS DERP??"

Since the very first time I ever saw him fight, I knew I was a Demian Maia fan. It's been so great to watch him over the years and it's been especially great to see him going on this run at WW. He's one of my favorite fighters to watch and I'd really love to see him find a way to get that WW title soon.

The greatest BJJ guy in the game. Matt Brown is a tough out and that was an absolute clinic. It's time for the TS before father time catches him.
