    I don't know about "special" but it utilizes a more bioavailable type than some other mag sups. Depends on why you're taking magnesium to begin with and then once you settle on a type (or types) just look at the ingredients to see if other brands are available.

    Interested on why they included the policosanol. All Ive heard about it is for cholesterol. If youre trying to address mag deficiency all you really need is gluconate.

    The policosanol is likely an additive to address leg pain from poor circulation. If it actually helps is anyone's guess but that's why it's usually added to mag supplements.

    The type of magnesium malate is likely easier to digest. I've not tried it myself though.

    Some magnesium supplements can have a laxative effect.
