By the end of 2014, The dragon will take over the reign of anderson silva and dominate the division.. After Weidman vs vitor wich will go either way, machida will derail the mousassi hype train and get his well deserved title shot. Finish both vitor or weidman.
Think about it, what can weidman do? Good luck wrestling with machida the whole fight he has versed bigger and stronger guys than weidman, Weidman is too slow on the feet for machida to feel threatned.. machida will pick a part weidman.
 
I agree. Weidman is great, but is seemingly no threat to Machida. Vitor might be in the sense of what Shogun did (bull rush and connect with a big shot) but I'd say Machida is better than any MW in the world (Anderson included).

I see Vitor beating Weidman then Machida beating Vitor.
 
So how is Machida going to be able to work his counter striking against Weidman when Anderson could not, and i consider Anderson a far superior counter striker

That is assuming Weidman doesn't take him down and Gnp

I really don't see what Machida has for Weidman
 
Machida fans love to pretend like it's completely impossible to take him down or control him in the clinch yet Davis, Hendo and Rampage all gave Machida tough fights doing this and none of them are as athletic, as good strikers, as good grapplers or as good in the clinch as Weidman.


Posters just love to underrate grapplers. The same people think Vitor will easily KO Weidman even though Rumble was able to control Vitor.

Not that it matters as Mousasi is going to Ko Machida.
 
Fan of Machida and Weidman, but Machida had trouble with Phil Davis...Weidman has way better striking and is overall more dynamic.
 
Machida can use striking against wrestlers, wereas anderson struggles with that. A guy only trying for td really limits andersons game.
 
I see either Weidman retaining the belt for a while, or the belt exchanging hands like a hot potato

Machida couldn't handle Davis' wrestling (not that he's bad, very good actually) but I use that example because Weidman is close to the same size as him but with a much better and more complete standup game.

If Rampage could cut the cage off and beat Machida, you better believe Chris Weidman can do the same

Weidman will be the MW champ until he relinquishes the belt. Until then enjoy the Weidman era and watching him run roughshod over the MW division.

Machida has way better wrestling and take down defense then Silva ever dreamed of having. He will be a tougher opponent then Anderson for Chris imo
 
didnt read the whole post- just the title- and couldnt agree more, i think weidman wrestles vitor into a dec or gnp's a tko... then machida picks apart weidman or ko's him... issuing in the machida era... future super fight between him and jones is the future

I'm not here to argue the entirety of your post but you are ignoring that all of those guys were MUCH bigger than Machida (Rumble was WAAAAAY overweight for that Vitor fight and would end up going up to 205/HVY), there's a reason there are weight classes in all combat sports. It's much easier for me at 215 to physically dominate a friend who is only 150.

Hendo is and was smaller than Machida when they fought. Also Rampage and Machida was a stand up fight so Machida' speed and elusiveness should have given him as much of an edge.

At most there was about 10-15 pounds difference in all of Machidas LHW fights.
 
I agree, Weidman is too flat on his feet with his striking. Machida will tear him apart. That is if Weidman even beats Belfort
 
Do some of you guys even watch fights before you post about them? Machida had trouble with Phil's wrestling? Phil won that fight by moving forward and throwing strikes, and it's highly debatable that he should have won that fight.

Regarding the wrestling...Davis was 2/10 in the TD department. I'd hardly say that Machida struggled with him.

Machida will lose if he continues to back pedal and fails to land devastating strikes. If you can move forward, throw strikes (even if they hit nothing) you'll win rounds against Lyoto if he doesn't really nail you with something.
