Machida takedown gifs

I would love to know how he trained to get so good at them.
Most of what's awesome as well as what's vulnerable about Machida's game is explained by the fact that he spent most of his life training for this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oQ5ROZC4Yc
Machida's sweeps are probably my favorite part of his game. That faked/missed reverse punch to sweep (ashi barai?) is my favorite. Such a great set up that works equally well in Muay Thai.
Illegal in Muay Thai to sweep with the inside of the foot like that, no? You can do a similar one where it's a kick with the front of the leg that works well, though.

That's actually Aikido. Sokumen Iriminage (Side Entry). Of course Aikido presuppose expertise in Shotokan Karate and Judo. But entering in on strikes and throwing/breaking the balance of the opponent is what Aikido is all about.

Its in lots of arts im sure I know it as a kenjit from silat same with his foot sweeps are not exclusive to karate

I probably got the name wrong. I meant the one where he throws a punch past the head and then uses that arm to sweep the person over his knee/leg. That's completely legal in Muay Thai. And you can do the same sweep with more of a kicking motion, too.

This one:

^^^ Glad to see 'ghost writer' put up a vid from the same source I used here to illustrate Shotokan kumite technique....

BTW, it's called one step chambers for the next....

This is probably my favorite takedown in mma... I love judo in mma.

But is it really better than Yoel Romero's absurd pick?

Problem with that one is if the opponent times a knee with the trial leg your face is gonna eat the knee when you duck down to get the ankle pick.

The sweeps Machida uses are all found in shotokan and he executes them to perfection.

My fav is the running, twisting take-down of loudmouth, bigmouth, Ortiz....

Wished he'd have finished the big lump right then & there.....
