"I expected a tough fight, maybe four or five rounds," Machida told MMAFighting.com. "I knew this fight could be over at any moment, but I expected it to be longer. I was ready for a long fight."

After he dropped Munoz with a head kick, Machida stopped going forward when he realized his friend was out, avoiding unnecessary punches. The fact that he was fighting a friend and training partner was a difficult part of his preparation.

"It was tough to deal with it when they offered me the fight, but after that I got mentally prepared to do my best in there," he said. "I have a huge respect for Mark Munoz and I had to do my best inside the Octagon to honor him as a friend. Win or lose, I had to do my best there."

lyoto vs jacare or bisping, if vitor beats henderson he should get a title shot

Dana does not agree.....Belfort comes off kinda like a prima donna, no way the UFC wants that diva carrying the gold strap.

But Dana agrees in giving Sonnen a title shot at a different weigh class after getting finished in the 2nd round.

Hmm maybe however actions speak louder than words so if Belfort finishes Dan Henderson then Joe Silva's got no choice but to pit him against the winner of Silva and Weidman.

Yo, I agree with y'all......I think all Vitor has to do is win the fight vs. Hendo to get a title shot. I just don't think Dana and Joe will give it to him.

Machida has so many fights at 185 that are interesting. I would love to see Vitor/Machida because of their kickboxing/karate backgrounds.

However, we haven't seen Machida use his ground game often, except for the Sokoudjou fight and a bit in the second Rua fight. I would like to see Machida grapple Jacare. I'm sure Machida will keep it standing as long as possible, but that fight would go to the ground at some point, I would imagine.

I like Bisping, but I don't think he would do very well against Machida. I believe Machida would frustrate him in the stand-up. Who knows?

An exciting fight stylistically would be Cung Le. I would love to see how those styles played out.

The ultimate middleweight fight would be Anderson/Lyoto. Will it ever happen?

Nice points, Machida vs Jacare might be the most entertaining?

If Vitor didn't come off like such high school girl all the time, he wouldn't have to worry about beating Hendo for a shot at gold. He would be fighting the winner of weidman vs silva.

I agree that Vitor is probably next in line for a title shot, but I still love this match up.

Hopefully the fight takes place outside Brasil.
