timestamped.

- says there were no paramount execs at the press conference
- says bellator doesnt fit on the network

What happens if viacom takes the dazn money and moves bellator off paramount and the promotion is stuck behind a paywall nobody has heard of?

looks like Viacom conned Dazn.

Agreed. I have Comcast and it doesn't come with the 'TV PACKAGE' that I'm paying for... I'm paying $130 fucking dollars. Fuck Paramount.

Didn't I say this in April?

;)

Moving it off would be like letting it die. What do they have that's better than Bellator for the timeslots? That's live TV?

Fuck Cable TV

Sports leagues have a better chance of getting my money via streaming services as opposed to cable.

I might look into getting this DAZN.

Bellator inks 100 million deal with global digital streaming leader DAZN, they're taking over the sport of MMA! UFC is dead!

I just listened
It was more his prediction than breaking news
But as I said in April, it was certainly in discussion

That’s not some scoop. You just put two and two together. 7 events will be exclusive to DAZN. It is obvious that most of the old Spike content like MMA doesn’t fit Paramount which I hear mostly attracts women now. Rest of the content will be on CMT most likely. Paramount can’t deliver for Bellator.

Also, streaming is the future. DAZN is budding. It’s not just a paywall for Bellator. There is plenty of content on and coming to DAZN.

I know you’re always front and center with negative armchair promoter takes on Bellator but I think this is better for Bellator. Instead of being a square peg on what’s become another AMC or whatever. They get to be on a sports platform that gives them better distribution internationally now(Bellator obviously has high international ambitions) and DAZN will only expand to more markets.

Good chance the other content can do just as well on CMT then we’ve come to expect on Paramount. The simulcasts weren’t terribly far off. CMT isn’t ideal for cable but it’s probably more suited for MMA then Paramount is now. Bubba is just upset that his ratings threads won’t be as doom and gloom as he wants them to be considering they’ll be mainly distributed from a streaming platform now.

Getting guaranteed money from DAZN is a deal they needed to take, so that shouldn't be lessened
But the whole deal is worth 1/7 of one years revenue of UFC & 1/15th of the ESPN deal.
Anybody thinking its a sign of taking over is not thinking with logic (& a calculator)

But while it hurts exposure, DAZN was/is a good deal for Bellator

Didn't have time to play the video. Are they going to still have a television component?

Also I think Luke is showing some pretty significant diffuse thinning at the vertex. His hairline hasn't receded but that's deceiving. He is actually losing hair in a manner similar to Linus Tech Tips

wouldnt make a difference to me. Im ready to cut the cord.

They still have Paramount
This was Luke thinking out loud about them leaving because nobody from Paramount was at the presser.
But I reported in April that Paramount was looking to get rid of Bellator & that is why they were testing/simulcasting CMT

I can't say I have some evidence based facts, but it feels like they want to focus more on the international markets.
DAZN probably streams Bellator in a few countries which had no access to Bellator (e.g. Germany) and their shows outside of the US seem to sell pretty good.

not shocking they put it on a different network after the rebranding. not sure what other channels viacoms owns other than mtv but

Honestly
I think after losing money, they are focused on what & who pays them guaranteed money.
I don't blame them for looking at things from a business standpoint.
