Luke Thomas: Jiri's name is actually pronounced 'Yeezy'

I tried to learn Czech for a bit, the 'r' is pronounced a bit like 'rj' (with a rolled "r". It sounds like "Yeerjy" Not Yeezy at all.

He should ask Jon Anik, he's pretty good at pronouncing foreign names.

The way he says Pereira like Pa-hey-da bothers me

He sounds like he's talking about spanish paella which is prounounced similarily. He and others are trying so hard at pronouncing names the "right way" even though they can't. It's one of my pet peeves. It's ok if you can't pronounce a name very well, but don't try to sound like a local if you're not.

All this time I was reading it as Yuri

It's obviously the Czech form of Yuri. Czech and Slovaks have some strange consonant pronunciations (in Slovak c can make a ts sound), but I have a hard time believing it is pronounced exactly like Yeezy.

edit: After researching, it's pronounced something like Jirzi.

There is the Polish tennis player Jerzy Janowicz and they would be more or less the same name.
