“I wish I would have had the chance to fight Anderson,” Rockhold told Major Waves Podcast (transcribed by Farah Hannoun). “Especially in that time, I think I would have beat him.

“There [were] promotional reasons. They didn’t see it quite right at that time. If I would have beat Vitor, then me and Anderson would have fought right away, straight away. But then I had to go reprove myself through the ranks after that loss.”

He did, quite emphatically I might add. After his loss to Belfort, Rockhold (16-5) fired off five straight wins — with five nasty finishes — including his UFC 194 dismantling of then-undefeated Chris Weidman. Silva would have been finished.

Had it been Luke instead of The Chris that night he probably would’ve won. I love Anderson but he was undeniably aging. I think Chris got to him first but his days were numbered either way. I say this as a massive Anderson fan too.

Weidman and Rockhold have quite different styles.

Rockhold doesn't quite threaten with boxing and wrestling. He's a good kicker and a good grappler. He striking defense is terrible though.

The Weidman that fought Silva was a beast. Unbeaten, big, strong, and well rounded.

Larry landed a short notice lucky punch after Luke finished him with one arm the first time. Then got KO'd in a fight where he won a decision against old Anderson. Ping ain't on their level ,never was.
