News Luke Rockhold: "F**en Idiot" Sean Strickland is Next Fight *UPDATE* Strickland responds

He bragged about beating up a homeless woman.
He can't call anyone an idiot
He didn't "brag" about it. He told a story about a meth head who lunged at him and tried to spit on him, so he instinctively used MMA to get her away from him and his dog. Luke is socially awkward and doesn't understand how to tell a story in a humorous way. He's not alone in that regard. Typically, most Americans don't know how to communicate anecdotes well. It takes a very special individual to be entertaining, and Americans have even less experience when it comes to delivering great anecdotes. You're much more likely to be drawn in by a story told by a guy from New Zealand, Scotland, or Ireland--because storytelling is still a trait that is practiced in their culture.

Regardless, it was an event that stood out to him. He tried to relay it in a way that was humorous, but doesn't have the charisma to do so naturally--so it comes off as awkward. That doesn't mean that he was "bragging" or "in the wrong." She assaulted him.

Also, Luke is a former champion in the UFC. He can call out people if he so chooses. If losing to the best fighters on the planet once you pass your prime makes you somehow worthless, then we've completely lost perspective.

Finally, as an added pet peeve, I'd like to mention how we've entered the stage of revisionist history where Bisping is some great hero and Rockhold is a braggadocios villain. In their first fight, Rockhold handled Bisping with ease and was gracious after their fight. He acted like a gentleman. Bisping, when he knocked out Rockhold, called him a fa**ot, made fun of him, and acted like a complete ass. And that's before Bisping went on to duck every contender in the division, eventually losing to GSP who then proceeded to throw the title and the division into the dumpster. And we all know the reason Bisping took the GSP fight, after money, was because he assumed he'd have a dramatic size advantage. Bisping spit on corners, said awful things about people's families, and was hated until he beat Rockhold--which somehow made him a darling in the eyes of everybody who watches MMA. Meanwhile, Rockhold, who is not socially very educated, is a decent guy who just lacks communication skills. Get off it.

Rockhold lost to Bisping, Romero, and Blanchowicz.

Romero hasn't been finished since 2011 and was involved in several title fights.

Bisping was a decorated veteran, who Rockhold easily beat when Rockhold was in his prime.

Blanchowicz is the reigning champion who easily defeated Israel Adesanya, who most people were touting as the next big thing.

I wouldn't say that Rockhold losing to those guys makes him worthless. People on Sherdog need some perspective. Furthermore, as Dana White pointed out, Luke doesn't NEED MMA. He is already wealthy and has a successful modelling career. So why not call out who he wants as his next opponenet?

Lol Rockhold has such a high opinion of himself it is hilarious.
He's a former UFC champion, successful model, and world-class athlete. You don't get that way by having low self-esteem. That being said, he does come off as unnecessarily arrogant--but a lot of that can be chalked up to his social awkwardness. Strickland has ZERO name value whatsoever. Even the UFC Twitter account acknowledged this when they were attempting to make fun of people who were saying the card sucked. If Rockhold is going to come back, why would he fight Strickland? That fight has ZERO heat on it whatsoever.

He's a fool to take this fight. I would say it is because he has no choice but shit, maybe Uriah Hall or anyone else lower in momentum. His management is failing him.
He wants the fight that gets him to a title shot. This is the one to take. Two unorthodox guys. Would be a good one.

Agree fully with you on this one. Revisionist history to the highest degree. Ping was completely classless in victory, and seems to forget just how easily Rockhold handled him the first time. Now post fight career he daily tries to change the narrative around the ending of his career, and is succeeding. To hear him talk about it now you would think he climbed the ranks 18-0 and earned the title shot legitimately. Non-casuals know the real story; on how he ducked Mousasi, Romero, Jacare, Whittaker etc while instead fighting 45 year old Henderson (not to Ping being gifted one of the worst homer decisions of all time in that fight). It was glorious how his last 2 fights went though. Funny how he never mentions them.

Finally someone who said it. Luke was so respectful after the first fight and then Bisping starts talking shit for no reason and Luke retaliated.

Talk about irony. The guy who's become the poster boy for "arrogant douchebag" is talking about how someone else doesn't help himself at all with his performance on the mic. hahahaha

Hope he works his way up to a title shot then gets his ass beat and dry humped by izzy.

I always love watching Luke fight but I stopped clicking on his interviews a long time ago. They are always impossible to make it through.
