Luke made the same mistake as GSP against Serra in trying to get back up instead of playing guard

He learned against Condit when he got dropped again. Anderson also played guard against Bisping after getting dropped.

Luke after he jizzed in his pants and fell opted to get up immediately and didnt look too bad until the 2nd shot which completely fucked his world up. Obviously his brain was scrambled from the first one but it was a poor decision and Mike doesnt have a worrying top game (obviously Serra was a beast there in GSPs case).

Rockhold looked bad after the first shot lol. but maybe have a good point on playing guard. idk. no gaurentee being on bottom while fucked up is safe either. Even the best grapplers get choked out when they are hurt on the ground. Easy back takes and GnP. But the altnerative I guess might suck more.

Seems like you know it all lmfao why aren't you in the octagon if it's so easy

You said it yourself "His brain was scrambled"

There wasn't much else he could do at that point except fight on instinct.

True but u can train that instinct. Look at GSP against Condit, he didnt try to stand back up immediately after getting kicked in the head with messed up equilibrium.

I dont think Luke has faced adversity like this so it was a foreign situation to him. Luke is a privileged guy too, born with a silver spoon and didnt seem like he had much of a tough upbringing, had it easy and comfortable, Fighters like him, Sage, BJ etc that were born into wealth tend to be frontrunners with not much heart/ability to come back

He was definitely hurt from the first left hook but the next one sealed the deal. Should have pulled guard.

I was thinking the same thing.

Sometimes pulling guard to tie up tightly and survive while you recover from the blow that first hurt you is so much better than trying to stand up all discombobulated only to eat more follow up shots.

Defensive guard can really save you from that situation and let you recover.

Luke fucked up.

Good obs TS.

Asshold made the mistake of not putting respeck on Bisping's name

Bispings top game is actually one of the best in the sport. He's a journeyman level fighter but he can do some fucking damage from the top. He just doesn't get there often because he doesn't use his offensive wrestling, which is also good.

Come to think of it, Bisping has a lot of top-level skills that he doesn't use intelligently.

yeah I think it has something to do with overconfidence, like they want to stick to their way of fighting instead of adjusting and acknowledging they're in danger and need to pull guard which is somewhat taking the beta position in that moment. It's like they're in denial "no I'm not hurt, I can still stand up fine"
