Conor has some sway but he's in Dana's bad books right now so I doubt he arranged to bring Smullen back.
I think DC told them to bring him back, he seemed to rate him highly. Everyone who rolled with him tipped him to win it.
It turned out the leg cramps were caused by rhabdo which is where your muscles break down and enter your bloodstream, it's a legit medical issue and can cause kidney damage. They can diagnose it from a blood test so it's not something that was in his head or 'nerves'. He got it from overtraining, he did 30 miles of roadwork that week including the morning of the fight.
