The show will feature Mongolia’s Tugstsogt Nyambayar (11-1, 9 KOs), who looks to rebound from a featherweight title fight loss to Gary Russell earlier this year. The 2012 Olympic Silver medalist and current featherweight contender will face Mexico’s Eduardo Ramirez (23-2-3, 10 KOs) in a 12-round title eliminator—with the winner to become the mandatory challenger to Russell’s title.

Opening the telecast is one of the sport’s brightest prospects. Philadelphia’s Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis will graduate from the ShoBox circuit to Showtime Championship Boxing series in a welterweight bout versus an opponent to be determined.

At stake in the main event is a mandatory title shot. The winner will not only sit pretty in the contender slot, but will also have the luxury of waiting out a mouthwatering multi-belt unification clash between Charlo and Jeison Rosario, which takes place one week later as part of a monster six-fight split bill Pay-Per-View event.

The 2012 Olympic Silver medalist from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia was among the benefactors from the “Mandatories” session of the 58th Annual World Boxing Council (WBC) convention on Thursday. A motion was passed for Nyambayar’s upcoming clash versus Mexico’s Eduardo Ramirez to now serve as an official WBC featherweight title eliminator.

The bout takes place September 19, live on Showtime from Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. The winner will be in line to next challenge reigning WBC 126-pound titlist Gary Russell, Jr., against whom Nyambayar (11-1, 9KOs) suffered his lone career defeat in as 12-round loss this past February in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

lubin is criminally underrated.

i hope he does well here.

I'm tempted to agree. His KO loss to Charlo could be written off as an abberation. It has happened before; in the case of Sumbu Kalambay against Michael Nunn. Kalambay was argubaly the best defensive fighter around his weight for his incredibly deep era - the guy outboxed a prime McCallum and outslugged Herol Graham - yet he somehow got KO'd in the first round by Nunn, who was never a known puncher.

There's a lot of issues with this comparison, seeing as Kalambay consistently proved himself to be world-class by beating elite opponents over and over again, while Lubin doesn't quite live up to this. So we'll see, lol.

people write lubin off because he got off'd by charlo, but charlo hits like a fucking truck... and he caught him leaning in. that punch would've moved a tank, there's no shame in going down from it.

j-rock got fucked up similarly by the other charlo and came back to look like a god vs hurd. nevermind he fucked up his next fight, but he still showed that you can come back from a bad KO and take the world. i think lubin has the same potential, he can still make a lot of noise at 154 if he stays focused.
