After seeing Pedro getting ko'ed again (many others too) by dropping his hands while giving a low kick i was wondering how can you stop this from happening?
seems you loose momentum and balance when you keep your hands up

btw that has to the best HW left hook ive seen
but what did Pedro do wrong?

i didnt see the match but usually to get away from punches when throwing low kicks i usually lean back with your back leg bent also to get in a lower level than what they are at, so far it seems pretty effective since i am out of range of getting punched

I was wondering the same thing.

The low kick was too slow, too obvios and the most important too close to the opponent. He just dropped the hands from the punching distance and threw the lazy kick, Zentsov didn't even need to step in much to catch him.

keep yo hands up keep yo hands up

Hands down and didn't cut across his opponents body at all (to keep his head away from that left).

You can throw a kick with your hands up and have power in it. You have to practise it over and over. People say it has no power with the hands up cuz theyre not willing to practise.

dont throw single low kicks,"prepare" them with various combos so your opponent cant see them, you can throw single low kick if you are very fast,if its a counter strike or your opponent is injured.pedros low kick was very telegraphed and knowing that red devil fighters always work on tactics and strategy that kind of counter from zentsov could be excpected

Yeah...I think you're right on all counts. I felt really, really bad for Rizzo. No one likes to see a legend get taken out so fast like that (well except Fedor and Zentsov). That punch caught him perfectly, and was such a fast counter. I guess it just shows how, at that level, you can't give someone that kind of openning.

Besides what's already been said, he didn't have the shoulder of his kicking arm guarding the chin (it should be like when you throw a rear straight). And you definitely get more power if you swing the kicking arm down...there's a reason why virtually every Thaiboxer and every A-level kickboxer throws the roundhouse this way. You just have to be alert and not get sloppy.

On a side note, that was one of the sweetest counter left hooks I've ever seen. Talk about Ichigeki Hissatsu!

When im throwingl eg kicks i tend to lean backwards to keep my face out of shot. This actually helps with the speed and power of the kick, so its definitely a technique worth looking into

Rodney King said that low kicks should be delivered with a little lean, like you're slipping punches and not just upright. Pedro didnt do that AND also he was throwing a leg kick at the wrong distance, if you watch he hits him with the upper shin which is CLOSE.

Yea but in MMA leaning back leads to getting taken down but in Pure stand up yeah it helps heaps.
