Ok guys, I know what you're thinking. I'm not looking for a miracle receipe, there is no such thing and I'm aware of it.

I've got about 50lbs to lose. I'd like to achieve that within a year or so. Yep, that's a lot of weight but I think that changing my eating habits will help a lot because I eat a lot of crappy food.

I'm not that young or that old (early 30's) but exercising is rough because of my work (I need to sit at work for 11hrs/day and the rest of the time, I need to pass it with family and rest/sleep). I want to exercise a little and I will but I can't count on that to lose all the weight that I want to. So the main weight lost have to come from eating habits.

Anyway, is there a GOOD diet out there for someone like me?

Thanks

Go exercise. Better yet don't, you're essentially defeating yourself by saying you don't have time for it and looking for a shortcut. Getting in shape is a process that requires you to change your lifestyle. Your current lifestyle is what got you 50 pounds overweight, a completely different lifestyle change is required to lose those pounds. Just changing your diet is, in my opinion, the bare minimum and, as such, it will be extremely easy for you to fall back into your old habits.

I was pretty sure that asking how to lose weight without having to exercise was either a) a joke or b) a troll job. Go to the gym and run. It's that simple. You could alternate days and spend 45 mins a day doing it. If you don't have the time to do that that you will not lose 50 lbs.

thought trolling was prohibited in this part of the forum?

im in much the same boat, except i also go to school on top of my 40hr work week. good luck man, and let me know what you find out.

Are you guys really going to call me a troll after he asked how o lose weight w/o exercise?

I'll let you know if I find something interesting.
I'm pretty sure that losing 1 pound a week with proper diet and minimal exercise (more walking and stuff but no gym) is possible.

If I had the time and the will to go to the gym, I'd go and lose that 50 pounds in 5 months without asking for advices. I don't. That's why I ask. And I'd not call that a "shortcut", I'd call that "another way to".

so you guys really think he will stay fat if he eats clean? hell no, yes you will lose weight but very slowly. how slow I have no idea.

but I agree with erco. a change in diet is one thing but a change in lifestyle is really needed to stay on track. Working out and realizing your body needs the proper fuel is the best motivation to eat right. would you really want to muck up your hard work if you had just run a while by eating a mcdonalds burger? no, but if you aren't exercising you don't have that extra motivation to stay eating clean. but theres no use in not trying; go for it.

if you cut your calories by 100-200 a day, in a years time that will add up to many a pound. But why not start walking at lunch time? Or taking the family hiking? Rent some bikes and go for a bike ride...exercise doesn't have to be solitary time at the gym...it can be playing a family game on the lawn. Just something to get you moving a bit.

It's the amount of effort that he's willing to put into it that's telling. I don't doubt eating clean will show results. He'll get advice from somewhere, follow it, get his results. A year down the line, he'll revert back to eating junk because it's convenient, slowly at first, but after a few months, he'll be back to square one.

Exactly.

BTW, your fucking av is distracting as hell.

I agree with all that and I'm planning to do something similar. A good diet with it would help though, hence this thread.

Jesus... just go for a run on your lunch break. Its frustrating when people do this, think not exercising is going to change your body composition right away. Heres the deal, think of it as half and half. You gotta put something in to get something back. Eating good is great, but you gotta put in some work to see a difference. God, I work 10:30-8, 6 days a week. I find time to squeeze in 4-5 runs a week and I lift weights. Make your downtime exercise time. You can still spend time with your family... take them on walks, go to the park and play frisbee... basically,

get off your ass.

I hear stories all the time of dieting(mostly atkins diets) alone is sufficient for weight loss. But excercise will make it it go that much faster

so you want us to count your calories and tell you what to cut out and tell you what to eat? Keep a food journal of everything you put in your mouth. Then find 200 cals a day you can drop. Maybe a bun, a piece of bread, a smaller portion of something. It's that simple. There is no one special diet to do.....unless you want to do something like Atlkins...but then go on an atkins board. We aren't going to type out.....eat this...eat that....not gonna happen. At least I"m not. Check the FAQ maybe??
