I am 6'2" 185-190lbs. my body is fairly skinny compared to how much i weigh. some people say i look like i weigh 160.

the point is the only place i am 'fat' is my stomach area. right under my navel is this goddamn gut. ive had it for a couple years and i jusst dont know how to get rid of it. im fairly active, not nearly as much as 2 years ago when i still had the gut. Im not a very healthy eater, not that i slob on fast food allday but i rarely eat regualr meals on time, hardly eat breakfast. I drink a fair amount of water each day but i just cant seem to lose it!

If anyone has any advice they can give me i'd appreciate it. Is it my bad diet that wont let me lose fat?? Should i be eating more fruit and veggies instead of meat and pastas?

I would highly suggest reading the stickies at the top of the forum since you don't seem to have much knowledge on eating healthy.

If you still have questions after reading those, then make a new thread.

But as a general rule to everyone, yes, eat more vegetables.

dieting, dieting, dieting. for that extra leanness you gotta totally eliminate not just carbs but fats. also do ab excercises.

That is absolutely terrible advice.

what are you talking about? dieting/eating right is the only way to get that last bit of fat away.

Not eating any fats or carbs isn't eating right.

Hell, at least atkins let you eat fat

I concur. You should try nothing but protein for let's say...the next 5 months and tell us how it worked out for you. Ready...go!

Just curious, can you give me a sample day with 6 meals that have NO carbs or fat? One that actually has food, not just protein powder 6x/day.

Your bad diet is absolutely preventing you from having a shot at losing the belly fat. Also, you're going to need to work out more. No earth shattering advice here, just the basic truth. Find your way to John Berardi's website; get a hold of his Precision Nutrition materials and, regarding your diet, follow them religiously.

What has worked for me is to eat 5-6 times a day. small protien and carb protions and eliminate carbs 4-5 hours before bedtime.

OK. if you wanna go there. ive worked out with people who worked out for competitions. Just worked out, not ate like them.
they worked out two times a day and ate three protein bars a day. thats it.
in other words they had the mass, all they needed was the extra cut, and thats how they did it. they needed to look super defined for the comp., and they did that routine for two weeks.
no fats, no carbs, actually no real food at all, just the bare minimum.
if you dont agree with it thats fine.
but in my mind if you wanna get that last bit of fat away you have to diet, unless you have the genes. some people look like that naturally. most of us have to put a lot work into it.

I call bullshit.

I've spent time with competitive bodybuilders, and even they're not that stupid.

No carbs OR fat? Hell, I bet you're against vegetable protein, too.

Dumbest advice of the century.

That bold part actually made me laugh.

no fats, no carbs,

Well 2 weeks, I can kinda see, but what about after that 2 weeks?

I have a couple of people in my gym that are training for the Kelowna Classic. One is a girl and she takes MCT oil at EVERY meal. Her carbs are fairly limited right now, but that is apperently what is required at this stage. She's still getting (this is a guestimate) about 300-350 cals from carbs a day.

I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I do not see how a human body can run optimally without 2 of the 3 main Macros. Nevermind the only thing it is getting is highly-processed, micro and phyto nutrient depleted, packaged protien.

Though there are people who swear by atkins and velocity diets. I shouldn't be surprised there are people willing to take it the next (illogical?) step.

and how long do they want to keep doing that

Would you suggest, for that little bit of extra flab around the OP stomach, he should resort to such methods.

Theres dieting to look good and theres the auschwitz look

I train with a guy that eats one can of tuna and one bottle of water all day to cut for a fight. I cant remember how far out he starts though. im guessing 3 days
