Just had a thought earlier on, obviously we all know that guys like Anderson, Rashad, Vitor have all been ranked in the top 10 of their respective divisions for what feels like forever.

What I was wondering though if there are maybe more smaller names than these guys who have managed to hold on and stick in the top 10's for the last few years and never really looked like falling out of it?

Fedor.

Cerrone has bounced around in the top 10 for awhile.

Melendez is the definition of your question, but he isn't exactly a small name.

Fedor, Chuck, Randy(?) and as someone said it might be even Mir.

Not sure bout Vitor because of the suspension

Going back beyond the mid 00's your talking a good deal less consensus for "top 10" but I would guess perhaps Nog? he would likely have been ranked by most in either 2000 or 2001 until last year.

Cub Swanson. Demian Maia (two classes). KenFlo. Just a few right off the top my head. Aoki(ish)

B.J. Penn was practically top 5 his whole career.

Kawajiri only recently fell off the top.

Pretty good question.. Pretty much everyone I can think of is a bigger name. Jake Shields maybe?

some people are posting names of fighters with legendary status.

interesting to try and nit pick with the smaller names.
