Do I know about Basingstoke?
I just asked a guy who lived in Long Beach most pf his life till moving to San Jose 4 years ago. He's never heard of it.
Most people who’ve lived in poor areas have hardly ever left their neighborhood. Sad but true. So it isn’t surprising that somebody from Long Beach had never heard of Solvang.
I do sweat lodge ceremony with the Chumash natives around Solvang and tons of depradation pig hunting in the nearby ranches. Its a cool little area.
You have Cachuma Lake nearby, Breweries, Wineries, A Casino, Santa Maria world famous BBQ, Santa Barbera, Pismo Beach, and the Wind Caves.
Yeah I've been eyeing up the breweries and wineries and it looks really pretty at Christmas. I doubt I'll be sweat lodging it, but it sounds pretty swell! I've only stopped in Pismo and Santa Barbara once, I loved SB so I'd like to go back for longer at some point.
If you can make a point to stay an extra night in Santa Barbara and Pismo, i reccomend it. Santa B is a beautiful town, they both have lots of good food, BBQ and great breweries on their own.
Unless you have ancestral history/blood with the Chumash, you wont be able to do sweats with them. My family there are the main reason im connected to that part of Cali and the sweat lodge hence why i chimed in on what to do out there.
Just stay out of Lompoc
The only reason I know about Solvang is that one of my favorite horror films was filmed there.
I think the Valley is a better place for wine than beer, especially Solvang and Pismo. SB is a much better destination than Solvang, imo. SM does have some good BBQ. Good recommendations. SM tri-tip is something people should seek out in the area.
Yeah I loved SB, wasn't TOO fussed with what I saw of Pismo but I only stopped for lunch so that doesn't mean much. Sadly I'm on quite a tight schedule from 27th to 30th, I'll do SB for more time next year, it was a pity I could only stay one night but I was on a really tight schedule then as well.
Its a cool place, lots of awesome wineries in the area too.
Report back if it looks anything like this ...
i totally agree. it's one of my favorite movies ever.
Looks fun, I love little unique cool towns. I just got back from Salem, but more of a witchy vibe. I want to go to Little Bavaria in Georgia as well
Is that the town that was in "Arrested Development"?
Does not. Can confirm.

I’d rather go wine tasting in Cambria personally.
