Colby Hugginton's case is a prime example of the UFC allowing a fighter who they perceive as marketable, to jump the line in terms of competition, and get to the top without ever truly proving himself . Here we have a situation where Colby is in a position to challenge Woodley for the title. But what exactly did he do to get there?

He only has 2 finishes in the UFC, against 2 guys who are both .500. ( Jonathon Meunier 1/1 LOL, and Max Griffin 2/2). His Last 4 fights are all decisions.

Then the UFC allowed him to skip over Till, Thompson, Usman, all guys who they know would have knocked Colby's head off, in order to get him into a match with the weakest top 10 opponent they could find for him, Maia.

He outstrikes K1Maia LOL, and then gets ranked #3?? Then they match him up with RDA, a very skilled fighter, but a guy who fought at 155 for a long time and was clearly outsized.

So, because he outstruck Maia, and pushed an undersized RDA against a cage for 25 minutes, he gets to challenge Woodley for the title?

Cliffs:
Apparently Outstriking K1Maia, and desperately pushing a smaller RDA against a cage for 25 minutes gets you a title shot in the UFC now.

Ultimate Fighting Circus at it's very best. But we all know how these UFC manufactured hype trains end....

1. He beat Maia more impressively than Tyron did
2. Usman fought Maia AFTER Colby battered him, and still didn't look as good as Colby
3. Beating Maia is far more impressive than beating Cerrone

Plus he just soundly beat RDA, so who deserves it more? Till, who can't even come close to making 171, let alone championship weight? Usman, one of the most boring guys on the roster? Wonderboy, who's already fought Tyron twice?

Won the interim title against the guy ranked #1 at the weightclass. It usually helps your title shot case. You must not be sure what's going on in this sport if you're confused ts

If he's really a completely unworthy contender, the champ should make that crystal clear.

THIS.
If you run through Maia and RDA imo you're a number one contender no question

I don't know, maybe holding the interim title and beating the #1 contender had something to do with it.

Lol nerds on sherdog going full denial. pathetic

He is on a six fight win streak and beat DHK, Maia, and RDA decisively. Usman has one top five win over Colby's leftovers and Till missed weight and scored an incredibly controversial hometown decision over Wonderboy. Hell he may never compete at 170 again. Keep being salty.

He just beat #1 RDA.
#2 and #3 Till/Thompson just fought with Till getting the W but missing weight
#5 Lawler just lost to RDA
#6 Usman's best win is a dec over Maia
#7 is Maia

The only other top fighter coming off a win you could give a shot to is Usman and if you think Colby hasn't earned a shot then it's hard to make an argument for that.

Pretty sure rda is bigger. I hear Colby doesn’t cut much weight and i think i remember hearing rda used to cut from 190 or something. Plus, who else should have fought for the interim? Everyone you mentioned is about as deserving as Colby.

Having the IC helps. Are you confused TS?

Nobody wants to see Thompson vs woodle y again, till has one legit win and usman beat a maia who was coming off losses to woodley and Covington. Covington holds the interim belt.

Stop being so butthurt and take your irrational hate out of it, it's obvious why he's getting the next shot.

He won a interim title fight, before that he beat Maia, before that he won a few fights and lost one, before that he joined UFC.

Why is the interim champion who just beat the #1 title contender fighting the champion?

<{fry}>

You seem to have trouble staying on point. Regardless of how you feel about Thompson vs Woodley, Thompson would destroy Covington. As would Usman and Till.

I think TS has enough good answers at this point.
