Not trying to hate the guy, i enjoyed his post fight interviews and will def pay attention to him from now on, but saying he can easily beat Maia (as some here have said) is ridiculous, not so long ago Masvidal was beaten and taken down by Bendo ffs, his TDD seems good but i don't remember the last decent grappler he faced.

Sherdog, pls.

I would rather see him fight Magney, not Damien

Michael Chiesa, couple years ago. Gamebread choked him stupid.
So who last finished Jorge lol? I don't even know. Dude is tough is nails, let's see it go down.

If Maia doesn't get a title shot next I am going to be very, very angry. Perhaps make some posts on Sherdog. Don't give a fuck about Masvidal.

Maia gets tired as fuck after 2 rounds of trying to smother his opponent with a 1993 UFC 2 gameplan.

Masvidal is like the Diaz bros. He doesnt get tired only unlike them he can actually wrestle and stuff takedowns all night long.

Masvidal vs Maia would look like Maia vs Rory.

Remember when he ate that spinning wheel kick from rustam khabilov? No one is stopping Jorge haha

No way Madvidal deserves a #1 contender fight with Maia. That's what it would have to be. Was he even in the top 10 before that fight? Inconsistent fighters getting one win over a ranked guy doesn't shoot them to the top. He needs at least another top 10 WW victory vs 10-6 to get a crack into the top 5. Magny sounds good or Larkin or Gastelum if he comes back to WW. Win that and then a top 5 like Robbie or loser of Wonderboy vs Woodley.

Masvidal does have good TDD. Stylistically, I can see it going in Jorge's favour but Maia has also been a monster since moving to WW.

Damian is a beast. I can see gamebred stopping the takedowns and peppering him around the ring. I can also see damian also choking him too lol. So 50/50 chance both fighter can win.

If Maia gets a hold of that leg, he's going to slither his way to his back.

He doesn't have to take him down to submit him.

that inverted triangle is seared into my brain.
Yeah that was crazy. Pretty sure it got voted submission of the year at the MMA awards, or something like that. For those that didn't see the last time Masvidal was stopped was in '09 by this:

Agree, Masvidal is getting way overrated by stopping journeyman Cerrone.

Maia is bigger and way more technical than this dude. I would bet he'd get strangled rather quickly.

That's how it is on Sherdog. One dominant performance, and any fighter is immediately promoted to untouchable world beater. One loss, and the same fighter is demoted to "can" status.

Maia isn't going to be able to grab Masvidal, let alone take him down.

Masvidal has legitimate footwork, and a pro-boxing level jab. Maia's not going to catch those liver kicks either.

This wouldn't be the hardest fight for Jorge. Woodley and Wonderboy are the only 2 guys who would beat him.

This is classic over hyping of a fighter based on a splashy win. Masvidal hasn't beaten anyone to suggest he's the greatest fighter to show up in the ufc. People need to calm down and wait until masvidal beats a great fighter instead of losing decisions cause he "don't pull the trigger" (more like, he's not good enough to pull it)

You have two distinct things happening here with Masvidal:

1) he's a world class veteran finally coming into his own

2) just beat the surging #5 ranked guy in Cerrone

Accentuate point #2 with that being a spectacular KO via thrilling, technical exchanges. That will earn you a fight in the top 5 considering he just cleaned up #5. He should rightfully fight up from there. Lets not forget he would be on a much more impressive win streak if his split decisions with Ben Henderson and Lorenz Larkin went his way.

So yes he deserves to fight Maia for a #1 contender match, if Maia doesn't want to wait.

Gastelum missed weight for the third time, that might be the most ridiculous suggestion I've heard in a while. He has no business fighting ranked opponents at 170 and potentially ruining another card (see: UFC 200) He's also booked to fight Vitor Belfort.

Magny would make sense. I would pass on a Larkin rematch since it was dead even and we just saw that fight.
