Lol at how the masses wrote off Stipe.

Even Joe Rogan was cringe worthy. "Cormier is so strong at HW, so fast".
I felt like I was listening to someone watching pornhub.
And then as the rounds went by, Joe Rogan "Oh...OOOOOOH".

I mean I love Daniel Cormier and think he is one of the best HW in the world, but it's insane how people just expected him to kill Stipe. 80% thought Cormier was going to destroy Stipe on MMAFIGHTING poll.

How dumb are the MMA crowds, is the question. Even Rogan is so damn clueless, I feel he is only commentating fights because of his monetary value in the eyes of the MMA crowd, but he's really really clueless!

From the first fight, I thought Stipe did not lose in a way that he was destroyed, and couldn't be a threat again. He is everything a fearful HW can be: Tall, long, powerful. I think only Ngannou is as terrifying due to his KO power.

Well DC outclassed him för three rounds

Betting slip?

DC only won the first because he was willing to cheat and intentionally eye poke Stipe

Impressive from Stipe. To be fair DC was whooping his ass for the majority of three rounds. I was surprised at DC's inability to adjust though. First the hands remaining down until his corner told him to adjust, then 12 body shots that landed on the same fucking side without him adjusting.

Pretty sure most people thought it could go either way. Obviously, most predicted the winner of the first match would win the rematch. I actually got all my parlay bets wrong. <{CMPALM}>

DC was lighting him up pretty well, dude and Stipe looked to be falling into the same pattern that got him ko'd in the first fight. It's not like Stipe dominated from start to finish.

Anybody who saw the last fight between them knew from the 1st two minutes that DC was getting pieced up early. That shot that he landed saved him because if he doesn't land that I saw Stipe winning that fight too because DC was having trouble with range and Stipe was even being more aggressive in the wrestling exchanges.

Probably the only rematch I've seen where I would have personally bet against the guy who won the last fight by KO.

i gave stipe round 3 and it was clear dc was losing control of the fight. the takedown threat was gone (if anything stipe would take him down) and his punches werent enough to stop stipe. people underestimated stipes power.

im not sure how they can, because he has 15 of his 19 by KO, including that title run where he KO'd like 5 people in the 1st round. dude has big power he just has to find the shot. last night he snuck the punch in. getting cracked by stipe when you dont see it coming is game over.

I know there's always a range of opinion, which you can average for normalcy but, even if 99% of people think one guy is going to win, it could just mean that 99% of people think that guy is more likely to win, not that he'll destroy him or that the other guy can't win at all

It makes you wonder about some of these MMA coaching staffs. They are still not at the level of other major sports in terms of film and planning. How is it that DC has had a long term problem with body shots hurting him going all the way back to his Frank Mir fight but body shots were not even a part of their plan until in the 4th round, out of desperation, Stipe stars throwing body shots?

his camp isnt the best. stipe is getting by on his own talent and just figuring shit out mid fight. im surprised he got the belt back, not because i dont think hes good enough and could beat dc but because i didnt trust his camp would have him prepared. and for the beginning of the fight it didnt look good, but stipe just figured shit out and got by on heart and grit. that performance was pretty much all him

I predicted Stipe to win the 1st fight, thought that DC got lucky and that Stipe would win the rematch, but then I doubted Stipe when he weighted only 230.

Greg Jackson is good at film and planning but people get mad at some of his plans because they can be "boring." What really concerned me about this fight is Joe Rogan was talking to Dan Hardy on his podcast and Hardy said when he talked to Stipe he got the feeling Stipe and his team didn't even watch the DC loss...they didn't even watch it. If that's true then Stipe is a lucky man to have come out of that with a win.

Both of them came in lighter with more of a focus on gas tank. It was probably the reason it went 4 rounds.

yea idk if they said that just to put it out there in the media to think they were underprepared (to trick aka) or if they really didnt watch it.

either way, i think a 3rd fight only leans towards stipes favor. he can take the punches and hes the younger guy while dc is getting older. the wrestling wasn't a foregone conclusion like many fans and analysts kept saying.

stipe is big enough when you combine his size, athleticism and his solid wrestling pedigree - its good enough to negate dc's wrestling. i mean we've seen dc struggle to wrestle other guys. why everyone kept saying he was for sure gonna dominate the grappling kept on bothering me. stipe is strong as hell and can wrestle as well. i was calling for stipe to go for more takedowns to see if he could land some bombs on top. it was clear after he took dc down the 1st time he could win those exchanges. hes just the bigger guy with solid enough wrestling himself
