It's funny how much HBO protects Oscar De La Hoya. In the countdown show they talk about how BHop beat Trinidad and then they skip right to saying how 4 years later he lost his next 2 fight to J Taylor.

They never mention his HUGE victory over a young in his prime De La Hoya. No mention of how he KO'd the golden boy which ultimately gave him more recognition than the trinidad fight. Its a shame how forgiving HBO can be to Boxing History when it concerns O DLH.

De La Hoya was not in his prime, and he was fighting at least 3 divisions above his 'prime' weight.

Trinidad was a bigger win, because Tito was undefeated and had actually looked half decent at MW, Oscar hadn't.

Well, that wraps this thread up.

oscar was just to small and was a garbage mw,sturm would have done better than that had he not gotten robbed by the golden boy

casual fans dont realize that oscar was a blown up MW and sucked there. It would have made bhop look better to hype the fight.

Tito looked more than half decent at middleweight. He looked damn near unstoppable. The way he walked through Joppy was something. I bet on Bhop to win, but I didnt sleep easy the night before the fight.

I seconded that.

As Joppy had a decent punch himself I did not expect Trinidad to blow him away like that.

I don't think you can say someone looked damn near unstoppable at a weight based on one performance.

Decent or even good, but not unstoppable.

I think Oscar proved what a great legitimate middleweight he was after he destroyed Felix Sturm.
