lobloo groin guards

I actually like it quite a bit, Im thinking of buying it.

I have been using it for some time. Frikken genius. Works great, never had a single issue.

Got mine this week, love it. Best cup design I have ever used for Muay Thai.

does this stay on over compression shorts? Dont like direct package to cup contact.

Long time reader first time poster.

On the topic of groin guards, anyone have any experience with the Bad Boy Thai metal groin guard or the Windy?

I currently use a steel cup with the shoelaces removed inside an under armor jock strap under some compression shorts. Not the best setup in the world, but it works. The Lo Bloo, Windy, and Bad Boy all look like better alternatives, with the Bad Boy being the cheapest. The Lo Bloo does have 5-star reviews from Brett Hlavacek and Kevin Ross however..

You can use it as a weapon supposedly to cause pain.

I stopped using it in class because it's painful if someone is shoving up against it.

i still dont get why groin guards are not allowed in bjj

Never made much sense to me either. People say the cup can be used to hurt the opponent. I can definitely confirm that I unintentionally hurt my training partners sometimes with the hard cups. I will say that I try not to hurt them as much as possible.

However, I don't see why a Spider Guard cup should be banned. No one's ever complained while I was using that one. It's sort of a "soft" cup and is designed fairly well.

I know IBJJF strictly forbids any sort of cup, but other tournaments are totally cool with it. In fact, the tournaments I've been in have encouraged athletic cups..

It's sort of a pro/con situation.

The Lo-Bloo cup can be used with any under-garment / boxer / short - so you won't have the direct skin contact and you are not dependent to any compression short. If you work out several times a day / week - you can wear it with anything and you don't have to worry about keeping one brand's short keep and dry all of the time. Safer and more hygienic: easy to rinse or just throw in the washer.

Also, it's "NOT" only for Strikers or Muay Thai - anyone in extreme sports can use it. Think of all of the nut shots we've seen with skateboarders, BMXer's, Stunt actors, etc...

If these are so good, how come no one mentioned it in G&E earlier?

we've seen fighters go down with all of those brands, don't think you'll see that with the Lo-Bloo Groin Cup
