literally gassing in BJJ?

    I seem to be having some gas problems in BJJ toward the middle/end of sparring sessions. I think I heard a reason why somewhere around here (lactic acid or something) Can someone give me the reason why and the solutions to it? Thanks.

    Rolling more will help you with your cardio. Go to the Strength and conditioning section.

    Again, Roll then roll, and then roll some more. The cardio will come the more you roll.

    Yeah man, if you're farting during rolls, you gotta look at your diet. Or ask your partners to stop doing knee on belly, I dunno!

    If it's cardio, keep rolling and it will get easier.

    Please look at your diet. Don't be the dude who farts with a triangle on.

    you rolling way too hard if you gass out.

    you should always roll in mind that you are gonna have another 5 minutes right after that.

    Avoid certain liquors- like Absinthe. Bad for BJJ.

    I have some tape of some well known bjj guys that have the same problem. (like...literally every movement) haha

    in all seriousness, farting does not necessarily mean you need to examine your diet. I realize this is contrary to other advice given on a thread...so sorry if it seems confrontational. Farting a lot is good and natural...though not so great on a date or when rolling. Experienced jiu jitsu guys just ignore it and realize its part of the game. Just blame it on mat noise. haha

    Meh, I meant literally having gas, not gassing as in exhausting, although I do get exhausted quite fast in my terms. I am looking for some information on something like lactic acid that may produce more gas as you get more tired?

    Edit: I didn't fart at all during the rolling session, but in order to hold it in, I had to ehh, tense up, which did no good for me rolling.

    after farting while rolling my instructor always says " i'll do anything to win"

    seriously though it's no big deal i fart like crazy when rolling...

    tell your rolling partners to start pulling on your sleeves and not your finger....
