Bellator has re-upped with two of its champions.

The Viacom-owned promotion on Monday announced new “multi-fight, multi-year extensions” for the contracts of welterweight champ Douglas Lima and flyweight titleholder Ilima-Lei Macfarlane.

Macfarlane said her new deal extends for 10 fights and five years. She thanked the promotion for its support.

“Very grateful for being able to remain with Bellator,” said the Bellator champ, who’s currently in Hawaii for the latest offering of her “Iliminator” scholarship program. “They believed in me from the beginning and have been so good to me. This is my home!”

Macfarlane, 29, is two months removed from her fourth title defense, which came at Bellator 236 via unanimous decision over Kate Jackson. She is currently unbooked for her next fight, but has welcomed a meeting with her longtime training partner and friend Liz Carmouche, who recently signed with the promotion after a release from the UFC.

Lima, 32, re-captured the welterweight title this past October in a rematch with Rory MacDonald in the finals of the promotion’s recent 170-pound grand prix. The win capped off a successful run that included wins over Andrey Koreshkov and Michael “Venom” Page.

”Both Douglas Lima and Ilima-Lei Macfarlane continue to prove they are two of the most dominant fighters on the Bellator roster,” stated Bellator President Scott Coker in a prepared release. “They made their Bellator debuts very early on in their careers, have climbed to the top of their respective divisions and have come to represent what this promotion is all about.

“As champions, both have taken on all challenges and have succeeded in every opportunity. I look forward to watching them continue their careers with us.”

Would have liked to see Lima have a crack at the UFC to be honest. A few more years of people calling him the best WW in the world without him going to prove it is then.

Still if the money is good legacy don't pay the bills.

Great. The only interesting fight left for Valentina at 125 is in Bellator!

Lima's great but hasn't done anything to prove he could beat Colby/Usman.

I feel like Ilima knows Valentina would beat the shit out of her.

I feel like there is no way that the UFC would pay what Bellator would pay him.

Really wanted to see Lima test himself in the UFC. Can't hate the guy for fighting in the minor leagues if the money is right though.

Probably not straight away but if you believe you can become champion then achieving that in the UFC is ultimately going to pay more. It's a risk though.

Yeah, but there also seems to be more popularity involved in title shots in the UFC where Bellator gives title ahots more based on merit and you dont have to worry about the promotor of the company lying or talking trash about you.

True but it's Velasquez who might cut ties with bellator if they keep screwing her over for a title fight. So let's hope she's in the UFC this year.

I have a feeling Macfarlane won't be champ very much longer.
