"Likes" should have NEVER been part of the WAR ROOM anyway

I had a shit ton of "Likes", and they are gone, and it really doesn't matter. If it helps the site operate better, then kill them. But, I do have to wonder, why the site cannot handle such a binary element that takes up so very little space? My curiosity is about the capabilities of the software. I see other forums that have no issues with them. I work for a company that does software, data, etc. for nuclear and classified sites, so this is kind of interesting to a geek like me.

It will 'crash' again folks, don't worry. We are all going back to 'zero' in a few weeks...

"Likes are the reason your servers have been going off the rails. It's also making it difficult to perform some routine administrative tasks such as moderate users, change forum permissions, usergroup permissions, and comply with GDPR requests. They're in too many of the necessary database queries and they cause locks. We would have to rewrite core XF files to work around it. Our techs advise against that because the site would break every time we updated and it could create security vulnerabilities. We're going to have to remove them all. Your admins may put restrictions on their use afterward to cut down on excessive usage."

What do you think sherdogs next scapegoat will be when the site continues to perform miserably? They will probably remove the PM function saying it bogs down the server. Or theyll make it so you cant visit the site without deleting adblock completely off your device. You know its coming.

It's always the man bringing us down.

I agree that "likes" are dumb in the sense of a contest for likes. If that was the only reason they served I would definitely say get rid of them.

But likes are good for keeping reply posts down. You get to let someone know you especially dug their comment without having to repost it with a "this" or some other affirmative reply. Cuts down on thread bloating.

^^^^ This!!!!

But, seriously.... THIS!!!!
