I just re-watched it. Other than being a close split decision and the punch after the bell. This fight is not great. There have been plenty of better straw-weight fights.

I watched it live but didnt pay close attention. Seeing it now the hype for the rematch seems really uncalled for.

!!!

All things considered, I think that both Joanna and Claudia are really doing their job (if somewhat awkwardly) and that is to create a sense of interest in their upcoming fight July 8th. I would've watched anyway, but watching the antics on TUF this season, now I can't wait.

Yeah but that third rnd. Nothing happened . Not really looking for 5 rnds of these two doing that. Hopefully someone changes it up.

I did think it was a fairly dull fight at the time. Mostly due to Gadelha holding and pressing and not doing much. I'm surprised when I see so many people say it was a great fight. It's actually listed as the #1 strawweight fight of all time on Tapology which just shows how dumb their lists turn out. #2 is Mizuki vs Grasso and #4 is Mizuki vs Karolina, so Mizuki is drawing excitement but then #3 is VanZant vs Curran... lol.
At the time I thought Gadelha would get the dec but was glad when she didn't because she did nothing offensively.

I think the rematch will be more interesting though due to it being 5 rounds coz Gadelha has sucky cardio (due to having Brazilian muscles) although she's a bit less inflated these days so we'll see. Gadelha looked much improved already in terms of wrestling and boxing in her fight vs Aguilar (and also gameplanning) too so maybe she can get something done this time.

The other thing which stands out about the first fight - much more than the punch after the bell (shit like that happens all the time, not a big deal IMO unless it's something extreme like Daley) - is the amount of eye gouging Joanna did, and how little it was acknowledged until recently (because everyone loved her until recently).

Seo hee Ham vs Cortney Casey was very good but never gets mentioned. I didnt enjoy Mizuki vs Karolina. Mizuki just let that fight go because of Korlina's activity.

Mizuki vs Grasso was very good. 5 rnds and Mizuki wins that imo and has huge momentum. Imagine what Mizuki could do with a real game plan and some high class coaching.

It was an alright fight. I re-watched it last week again & I think it all came down to RD2 which was suuuuuper close...I think i'd edge it Claudia though.

JoJed RD1 & Claudia RD3 pretty easily. On the stats though, Claudia won it everywhere.

Gadelha out struck her 59(of 104) to 47(of 134) with 7 tds to 0

It wasn't a great fight but it did seem a clear 29-28 to Gadelha in my eyes. I suspect the rematch will be a better fight, just hope Gadela's cardio has improved.

I thought it was a great fight and felt Joanna won. The stats noted above do not tell the real story - significant strikes

Claudia Gadelha - 27 of 70
Joanna Jedrzejczyk - 38 of 125

JJ had more significant strikes in round 1 and round 2. In round 3 Claudia had 10 sig. strikes to JJ's 9.

It was okay, I am huge Joanna fan, so biased a bit in thinking the judges got it right. However damage wins fights for me and takedowns that result in nothing should not even count. As far as excitement, Claudia's style is not very exciting.

It was a decent fight. What's got people excited is that this is one of the few matchups where the dislike is real. I'll definitely be watching the fight
