the bound by blood advertisement on here has me in the mood to discuss his career.

IMO Frank was the first fighter in mma I ever really felt was unbeatable.

the absolute war with enson, wearing down Jeremy horn, destroying igor zinoviev, submitting kevin jackson with ease. outlasting tito ortiz

guy was an absolute monster and deserves far more respect from the mma community than he gets. Personally i really feel he helped push mma. he pretty much was the man who helped strikeforce turn into a competitor. guy is one of my favorites, but there are things that that bring down his legacy imo. stuff i don't think this documentary will touch up on.

he left the sport in his prime for god knows whatever reason. you can argue the finances, but there were so many superfights he never really looked to get.(no i'm not talking about the ken vs frank superfight). also the rumors of himm offering to fix the Elite XC fight with Kimbo when they were looking for a potential replacement kinda hurts

How does sherdog see this documentary, and what is everyones thoughts on Frank?

Frank is one of the reasons I started watching MMA and even though I can't stand him now, he should be 1st choice for HoF induction.

    Dude was a beast.

But for some here, LHW started with the Chuck run in UFC.

yes he was one of the first complete mma fighter. You can argue the first prototype for what a true mma artist is.

He was the GSP of his time imo. The first prototype of a "MMA" fighter.

Frank was bad ass and a great example of how not to build a career.

Still think the Frank Bas II decision was bad.

It seems they gave it to Bas on the sole basis that he had a knee bar, but it didn't matter because Frank grabbed the rope.

Would you please back that shit up with anything but hearsay because that is some pretty serious stuff to throw around on a MMA forum. I've heard one dude claim it and Frank deny it. I'm also very certain Frank is entierly to full of himself to actually fix a fight, not that he'd need it agains Kimbo.

Frank should be in the HOF. One of the greats for sure.

the vice president of EliteXC said it. Plus Frank did allow that match against Cung Le to go on. and continued to try and promote Cung Le. Frank IMO is a company man. and I do believe he offered to fix the fight. I will go back and add that it was rumored. but I do believe it.

there is a lot of stuff to bring down his legacy though. not just that.

plus I think the fix was, that he'd let kimbo win. or atleast keep it standing as he did with Cung Le. he had plenty of opportunities to put Cung away but didn't.

STFU, what can you possibly have to bring down his fighting Legacy? His legendary status as a fighter?

*He stirs the pot a lot. stuff with Ken shamrock allegedly cutting himself to avoid fighting kimbo.
    -
*the rumors of him offering to fix the fight with Kimbo
    -
*Not fighting to his abilities against Cung Le
    -
*Knees to Renzos head while on the ground. seemed to be waiting for a standup. i don't buy the fact he forgot the rules.
    -
*trying to sell the idea of Cung Le vs Anderson Silva being a potential superfight when the merger took place...

I don't know. I think frank is a legend, i think he was one of the best fighters in mma history, but I do think he has done some stuff to tarnish his legacy.

Frank was the reason I began watching MMA also. He was the first well rounded guy who made cardio a HUGE priority.

Go back and watch his fight with Tito and it is a brilliant tactical display from the smaller more skilled man. He used an active guard to tire Tito out without taking huge amounts of damage himself and as soon as he felt Tito had gassed he reversed him got up and poured it on and Tito couldn't keep up and verbally submitted after some brutal hammerfists.

If I had one wish it would have been to see Frank get that fight with Sakuraba, that would have been one of the greatest fights of all time imo.

Frank was my favorite fighter when I started watching MMA. It's too bad he went into semi retirement in his prime. He was also really good in the dreamcast UFC game.

I had to watch both of their careers in hindsight. Wow, thinking about it, that would have been amazing.
