and the first time Jones fought a guy his own size he looked mortal... just saying.

Btw: Gus 1,2,3.

Jones looked mortal against O'Brien and Bonnar?
first time that he was fighting someone of his own size.

he's certainly got a shot!

do you see him taking jones down or keeping it standing?

Glover got some vicious gnp but Bones is def the better rassler...

What will pose the biggest problem for Jones is that he will fight a guy that will not only commit to pressure and doing damage, but also mix things up and go for takedowns. Jon has been lucky to fight guys that pretty much stood at range with him and tried to get inside, a one dimensional attack.

The "a fighter his own size" story is getting lame. And it takes off merits from Gus' performance.

Bonnar was huge, with more reach, faced a much younger Jones and yet he got destroyed.Rampage was also bigger than Jones for sure.

And this coming from a guy who really likes Glover and will root for him vs Jones.

Rampage was not bigger then Jones.....Jon had size on him, dont know what your watching.

Watch round 3 of Bonnar vs Jones and tell him he destroyed him.....I think you've that spinning back elbow and supplex clip on Bonnar one too manytimes.

Sure Gus is a pretty big guy for 205, but his skills are what made the fight close

Should also add a skilled guy his own size. Glover is no joke, this fight is definitely closer than the odds suggest.

Glover may be a huge LHW, and not taking anything away from his 20 fight win streak, but he's just not athletic enough to give Jones problems. Everyone talked about Gus's height, but of more importance was his excellent footwork, and the fact that he is a great athlete just like Jones is. Bones will pick Glover apart standing, and take him down and GnP him out just like he has to so many others. Of course Glover has the proverbial puncher's chance, but in addition to being a huge LHW, he's a pretty slow, plodding LHW also. Think a LHW Frank Mir (with power and much better striking).

Glover texeira is not going to be easy to beat for anyone at lhw.

Yeah, lets totally discredit Gus by making it about his size and not at all about his skill. Good show.

glover has, what rogan calls, farmer's strength. which is what prime Hughes had. too bad glover will still get his knees kicked in

Gus' footwork, speed, angles, cardio, and a few other factors had more to do with his success against Jones than size.

Glover is inferior to Gus in those areas by a good margin. He presents a different threat which is his ground game but he has to get Jones down there first. Yes, Gus managed to get Jon down. He capitalized on Jon being an awkward position and persisted on the TD and got it. The timing and footwork to get that TD is not something Glover has really showed(Gus has in previous fights(. Glover's wrestling basically revolves around his single legs and trips off of that. His entry isn't esp. fast and his transition from his striking to it isn't esp. fast either.

I'm not saying that Gus/JJ didn't show things that can be used to build a gameplan for facing Jones. There's just not alot in that fight that can be replicated by just anyone at LHW or HW for that matter and for Glover specifically. If all you came away from JJ/Gus with is that anybody with similar size will give Jones a rough go then you missed a helluva lot.

That is the thing that i have been saying here for a while. Some posters said a couple of days ago that Glover is like Rampage. However, unlike Rampage- Glover is very good on the ground. Glover is a big LHW, and this will be a tough fight for sure, and will not be a one sided affair. Glover will surprise a lot of people in this fight.
