Let's get some wrestling discussion going for a change.

I don't know that I completely agree with that. Greco/freestyle emphasizes big throws more, which would mean a lot of fights end with 1 move if it's on concrete or a similarly hard surface.

why are you saying that wrestlig can only fill up the stands in iowa? Iowa isnt even the best wrestling state in the country. Pennsylvania and Ohio, are the two best states at wrestling in the country.

This I am aware of. The other guy mentioned Iowa specifically, and it's true that while not one of the elite wrestling states, it's one that has a large fan base. There are a handful of other places that wrestling is popular enough to fill the stands for every meet, but they are few and far between.

your right its nice to see a post on wrestling...Let me know if you have any training questions and I will do my best to help out...

Satchmo- born and raised Masshole over here.

Wrestling in the midwest (Iowa specifically) is like High School football in Texas. Ridiculously popular.

Exactly. It's kind of sad, really. At our high school, our football and basketball teams sucked ass, yet they had the stands full for every game. Our wrestling team was one of the best in the state and the only people that came to watch were friends and family. The same is true in collegiate wrestling. Very few schools, even DI ones, can get a good number of fans out to watch.
Is it because the wrestling cheerleaders all have cauliflower ears, moustaches & can bench their own bodyweight?

Question for wrestlers:
Links to good wrestling fight videos?
Links to good technique/training sites?
Preferred wrestling-specialised forums?

We never had cheerleaders at our matches, I guess they were too busy cheering at the freshman basketball games. That was probably a good thing, because our cheerleaders were fugly.

Themat.com is a good all-around wrestling site

LOL. All the good-looking chicks were at band-camp, on the debate team & in the chess club?

i went to hs in western nj and wrestling was pretty big. second only to football in popularity.

<- Iowan

My HS had wrestling cheerleaders. They were fugly, just like the rest of the cheerleaders. Wrestling was the least popular sport at my highschool. I know my school wasn't alone.

Maybe I was a bit harsh on them. There were a couple I'd nail. The rest of them were either on the chubby side or had buttafaces. Most of the good-looking ones either played other sports or just didn't want to cheer.
