He is not.

Sambo is different from wrestling but they are fundamentally the same.

He is an effective grappler because he is bear strong and have that dumb strength from wrestling/sambo since he was a kid, but he will STRUGGLE if he ever decides to move up to welterweight where pure strength is not enough.

His takedowns, foot-sweeps are all power based moves. He is a lightweight that wrestles like a heavyweight and make no doubt about it, that is not a compliment. His head-n-arm takedowns are the type of basic shit they teach you in wrestling to catch guys off guard but it is a high risk move and a guy like Tony Ferguson will easily counter and take his back standing.

You will see very soon enough that his power-based takedowns will be deflected and his lactic acid will build up in a 5 round fight until he just lay down and take a nap like Shane Carwin did against Brock Lesnar.

You want to see people with good fundamental takedowns, look at Frankie Edgar and GSP. Their takedowns are fluid, and rely on momentum, technique, rotation, and therefore they use way less energy to make their opponent be caught off guard and taken down. Khabib not so much. Those are the type of takedowns that translate well to opponents that are 20-30 pound heavier than you. Khabib's takedowns are not. He would easily get destroyed by Woodley, and he will be exposed soon enough. Male version of Ronda Rousey who is thought to be unbeatable until he gets exposed.

he wont move up.

in all honestly, did you see the way Woodley stopped maia's takedowns? if you can stop maia you can stop khabib.

yeah I said it. what

Tend to agree

He just mauls his opponent, and if he faces someone as strong he has trouble (gleison)

He has technique, no doubt, but he also has rare freak russian stregnth

Jones has great technique but alot of his sucess comes his stregnth AND leverage. Which is why he outwrestled DC but struggled with Alex, they were both the same height and just as strong as each other. obviously Jones and DC are way better wrestlers than Alex, but the results in the cage don't lie. Alex did as good, if not, better than DC.

Frank Mir even noted that Alex has viking stregnth and was mauling HW's in sparring.

Strenght plays a huge role in wrestling

I bet his opponents were all like

"He's not that good technically"

While he's pounding their heads in while telling them motivational shit.

"exposed"

What's his record again?
The man is fighting the best people in the world. The BEST. Even if he loses, which I don't think he will, the only thing being exposed will be blood.
When Khabib wins or loses, TS, you're still an idiot.

He is technical enough to maul people, and that’s all that matters to me.

Here's Khabib more than holding his own against Rockhold in the grappling department.

sorry. just a lot of wrong in this.

Hahaha! No. They are PRACTICING. Luke is not going nearly as hard as he could because he fights at 30 lbs heavier.

If you ever decide to step foot inside an MMA gym or a grappling gym remember if you are grappling with a female or a smaller male opponent you always adjust for their strength speed and skill-set so that you can help them make them better. You don't go balls out 100% with everybody to see who's better. You're all there to make each other better.

saying khabib does not have fluid grappling is absurd. he transitions between different sweeps/takedowns/mounts seamlessly. that is one of his greatest strengths.

There is no way you have ever trained lol. You don't dominate other pro fighters at your weight by being strong.

You're not dominating virtually every opponent you've ever faced in the grappling department on sheer strength alone.

Or Khabib is that damn good of a grappler.

Yes I've been in the gym and adjusted my strength to roll with smaller guys.

But there were some smaller guys that could absolutely wreck me if we were both going at 100%.

Maia is another guy that regularly taps HW grappling.

Here's Maia beating Jacare despite the size advantage.

It’s fucking mma. There are no style points.

I hate when there are 3 weeks between cards. Some really shitty threads get created.

I’m not too concerned with WW. He’s fighting for the LW belt in one week.

There's always an idiot TS that has to be a contrarian.

What a moron.

He has a 45% takedown rate with a high number of attempts. Thankfully for him most of his opponents have been striker based fighters. Khabib's fight against Tibau, a big LW with great grappling is a telling fight.

Tony will be the best grappler Khabib has ever faced, by far

Anyone know how to delete someone else’s topic?
