He is not.
Sambo is different from wrestling but they are fundamentally the same.
He is an effective grappler because he is bear strong and have that dumb strength from wrestling/sambo since he was a kid, but he will STRUGGLE if he ever decides to move up to welterweight where pure strength is not enough.
His takedowns, foot-sweeps are all power based moves. He is a lightweight that wrestles like a heavyweight and make no doubt about it, that is not a compliment. His head-n-arm takedowns are the type of basic shit they teach you in wrestling to catch guys off guard but it is a high risk move and a guy like Tony Ferguson will easily counter and take his back standing.
You will see very soon enough that his power-based takedowns will be deflected and his lactic acid will build up in a 5 round fight until he just lay down and take a nap like Shane Carwin did against Brock Lesnar.
You want to see people with good fundamental takedowns, look at Frankie Edgar and GSP. Their takedowns are fluid, and rely on momentum, technique, rotation, and therefore they use way less energy to make their opponent be caught off guard and taken down. Khabib not so much. Those are the type of takedowns that translate well to opponents that are 20-30 pound heavier than you. Khabib's takedowns are not. He would easily get destroyed by Woodley, and he will be exposed soon enough. Male version of Ronda Rousey who is thought to be unbeatable until he gets exposed.
