Just posted this in the main thread, thought a dedicated ratings thread might be more interesting though:

Overwhelming feeling is "Meh". 4.5/10 Mania overall.

Kalisto/Ryback - Meh

10 Diva - slightly less of a cluster than expected, but not good by any stretch

Usos/Dudleys - Dull. Whole match was made for one spot

IC Ladder Match - entertaining, bit of a spotfest. Ryder going over was weird

Jericho/Styles - Sloppy, maybe the worst of their matches. Jericho going over makes no sense unless they plan to continue the feud, which makes even less sense

LON/New Day - Forgettable, i get they're trying to build a feud, but mania should be the pay-off, not the kick-off

Lesnar/Ambrose - Huge disappointment. Unimaginative, Ambrose looked like a can

Charlotte/Lynch/Banks - Great match. Best of the night. Some great spots and i think the right winner, Banks needs the title but only after a proper chase

Undertaker/Shane'O'Mac - A clear sign that Taker needs to wrap things up. Deadly slow pace, to the point of being quite dull for 90% of the match. Completely saved by Shane doing something wildly dangerous

Battle Royale - Basic match, Shaq was a good bit of fun. Corbin winning was cool

Reigns/HHH - Solid but unspectacular match. Not Mania main event. Would have been acceptable if Reigns was over, but he's not.

So basically, 2 matches i really enjoyed and a host of solid but uninspiring matches with a lot of really deflating results.

Mania 11/10 (you'll see why in a second)

US title: ok not great

Divas tag: Summer had a cape and Paige is crazy hot so 10/10

Usos vs Dudleys: fine i guess. Usos have no future outside of tag wrestling so it hard to care

Ladder Match: 10/10 for actually being able to have a surprise winner

Jericho vs Styles: could have been better but i can't complain about Jericho getting his rare PPV win

Lads vs Saiyans: Barretts rugby nose makes it a 10/10

Lesnar vs Ambrose: made Ambrose look absolutely delusional for thinking he was tough killed his entire gimmick might as well have buried him

Divas title: i can't get over how Banks did the frog splash onto Charlottes knees

HIAC match: 7/10 taker looked old as dick

Shanes jump: cool out of yes

Battle Royal: 0/10 Axelmania lost

Wyatt burial: pointless/10 should have given some of that time to Ambrose and Lesnar

Steph's outfit: 100/10 saved the show best mania ever

Main Event: almost undid all the good Steph's outfit did Reigns got booed through the carpet

Agree with virtually everything you said.

Women's match definitely did feel like the highlight.

Shane vs. Taker felt lacking. Shane delivered but again it was a lot of filler between the big spots. I think back to Shane's matches with like Blackman or his dad or Angle and they all seemed a lot better. Again, this is a guy fifteen years older so it's no knock to him- first time doing this in years as well. He really sold the match and looked impressive in those high spots but what happened between them dragged.

IC Title match: 7/10 This was a fun match with a blah finish. Ryder winning was very underwhelming...this actually seemed to set the tone for the evening.

Jericho vs AJ: 6/10 This was a decent match with another underwhelming finish. Jericho winning was meh and the spot they chose to do it fell flat as well.

LON vs New Day: 6/10 Once again we have a decent match with a weak finish. Mania is suppose to end feuds, so if this was a blow off match, it was lame. If it's going to continue one, well that's very underwhelming for Mania. The HOF beat down was mildly entertaining.

Lesnar vs Ambrose: 6/10 I feel like a broken record. The match wasn't bad...but you were expecting something crazy...and you got something that wasn't bad.

Divas Match: 5/10 I've come to the conclusion there are two types of divas matches. Those with that Asuka broad and those without. She seems to be the only one who doesn't look second string when she does her moves. I know everyone else seems to love the new divas, and I can't fault their effort...but their just not as good by and large and never will be no matter how hard we try and pretend otherwise for the sake of new age political correctness.

HIAC: 6/10 Again...it's not that it was bad...but the whole premise of the match was stupid and these guys aren't spring chickens anymore. I can't fault their effort...but we've seen Shane jump off stupidly high things before.

Battle Royal: 2/10 Other than a few good one liners from JBL this was an obvious piss break match.

Rock and Wyatts Segment with Cena return: 0/10 This sucked on every level.

Roman vs Trips: 3/10 The match was ok but they've made sure I couldn't care less about either one of these two so unless they pulled out something on the level of Nakamura vs Ibushi (which was impossible given the folks involved) this was doomed to fall flat.

So we have a whopping 5.125/10 for the night.

Kalisto Vs Ryback - Somehow I missed this but doesn't sound like I missed much.

Divas Match - Grade: C - Okay for what it was. Alicia Foxx was pretty awesome in the match.

Usos Vs Dudleys - Grade: D - Garbage. What a waste of time.

Ladder Match - Grade: B - Solid opener. I don't like Ryder winning. It was a feel good moment but I thought Owens or Zayn should have won. Really awesome to see Owens and Zayn fighting it out, kind of a Guerrero/He who shall not be named moment in a different way. Cool spots, liked Zayn jumping through the ladder and then doing his DDT thing to Owens. Throughout the whole time I was just thinking "imagine what Neville would have done in this".

Jericho Vs Styles - Grade: B- - Not their best match. Hate seeing Jericho go over. I may be grading this harshly because I had such high expectations going into this. I thought this was going to the show stealer but it didn't pan out.

League of Nations Vs New Day - Grade: C - Agreed that its forgettable. New Day had an awesome entrance with the cereal box. Have no idea why League went over here.

HBK/Foley/SCSA segment - Grade: B+ - Really cool to see HBK, Foley, and Stone Cold do a run in. HBK had his wrestling gear on and for a minute I thought we were going to get an impromptu match involving him. Funny moment having Austin give Xavier the stunner.

Lesnar Vs Ambrose - Grade: C - Agreed that it was a disappointing match. Don't even know what to say about it other than "Lesnar went over". Hope this sets up a Lesnar Vs Roman feud here. Forgettable match that could have been on any PPV/network special.

Charlotte Vs Sasha Vs Becky - Grade: A - Match of the Night. Solid work from all three women here. The woman singing Sasha's entrance sounded off for some reason. I would have had Sasha go over here. With a new belt and everything I thought it made more sense to have someone new win it. The ending was fine and I expect a Charlotte/Sasha feud to lead into the next PPV. Becky is kind of the third wheel out here.

Undertaker Vs Shane - Grade: A - Great for what it was. Shane is a lunatic and his dive makes this an automatic A. What I don't like is what does Shane do from here? Is he gone now? Did he do that big come back and everything just to get owned by Vince and Taker? Guess we'll see.

Andre The Giant Battle - Grade: B - Baron Corbin going over here was an excellent choice. It was fun seeing Shaq involved. I hope this is used in the future solely to get over new talent.

Rock/Cena/Wyatts Segment - Grade: B- - I got so hyped thinking we were gonna get Rock Vs Bray. Then I remembered Bray is still injured. Pretty lame to see Rock beat Rowan in 6 seconds. I like how Rock did a little shoot when he talked about Wyatt having everything it takes to be a star. Cena coming out was cool. Wyatt's job again though :(

Reigns Vs Triple H - Grade: C - It was what everyone was expecting it was going to be. I think they probably had close to the best match they could. Definitely disappointing there were no surprises other than Steph getting speared. Still not sold on Reigns but let's see how he does. There's no doubt in my mind though that Seth Rollins is the best guy in WWE and they need him back ASAP. I think Reigns probably holds onto the belt until Seth can take it back. This would have been better had they done a four way with Ambrose and Lesnar.

Except for the Divas match (Which I gave a 7/10) This is pretty much my feelings.

Though I did not mind Ryder winning, its not like anyone cares about the secondary belts anyway, and I liked Corbin winning the Battle Royal.

I would have liked Corbin winning if I didn't watch the lame match with Aries on Takeover.

I give it an average 7/10. I had average expectations, and they were mostly met. Sometimes exceeded, and one time disappointed, but that's about it. Due to the sheer volume of shit that happened, it gets a heightened rating.

  • US Title: Missed this one but got home just in time to see the pin so okay.
  • Divas Clusterfuck: 5 points for their outfits alone. I didn't watch this one for the wrestling. I'm sad that Paige was reduced to selling the whole match. I would've liked to see Lana and Eva play naive dumb bitches, though.
  • Usos vs Dudleys: Pee break match, didn't give a fuck.
  • IC Title: Great match. Nice surprise ending capped off with KO being dead during the celebration. Stardust with his tributes to Dusty.
  • Y2AJ: I thought it was good considering I didn't give a a fuck about it.
  • New Day vs League: Worth it for the entrance alone. Expected ending to the match. Unsure about the involvement of Stone Cold and the rest of them, so whatever.
  • Lesnar vs Ambrose: I'm officially over Lesnar, and have been over Ambrose for at least a year now, so I didn't care much for this match. It played out as expected.
  • Women's Title: My favorite match just cuz I'm hyped for Sasha. I wish they gave Charlotte a better moment to hype up the new title. Expected outcome, though, and good match. Wish Sasha colored her roots for the grandest stage of them all. Cool that Snoop rapped for her, but they coulda left out the chick singing. I'd say it's cool that Sasha's repping Eddie, but I want my heel Sasha. I think Charlotte has potential to be a good heel, but she isn't acting like one quite yet.
  • HIAC: It was okay. Everything was as expected. Wish Taker's entrance was cooler. Shane spots were good as expected. I wish there was a better link to the storyline in the match, though.
  • Battle Royal: Wish Henry went over. Hopefully they can parlay Corbin's win to something useful so that Henry not winning wasn't in vain. Like that they brought in Shaq and some random fools, since we didn't get it at the Rumble this year.
  • The Rock: Fuck this shit. I like The Rock, but he's been long gone. I don't like Wyatt, but he's a strong heel and he was put on ice just for this? What was the point of having Cena come out? That's no better than Rock killing everyone on his own. At least fans should be happy that Bryan isn't the fastest loss in WM history.
  • Reigns vs HHH: Another as-expected match. This match was bland and slow, but coming on after a cooler segment, it was meh-to-okay. HHH's entrance sucked, and Reigns needs a better entrance. That shit really sets the mood for the match, and this didn't hype me up. I wish Roman had a better celebration to end the show to at least compete with Rollins running up the ramp and swinging the belt around last year.

Main event and "Womens" championship match were the only good matches.. I was hoping for a Seth Rollins appearance.

Charolettes back flip off the top rope onto the floor was impressive. She took some hard bumps in that match.. I seem to be one of the few people that didn't have a problem with the "Divas title".. But the new women's title does look a lot cooler.

Stephanie's outfit and speech was kinda funny but it reminded me of 6th grade drama class.

Missed the US title/IC title/10diva/aj&jericho matches.

Andrea the giant battle royal should be scraped.. Battle royals suck.. As did everyone in that match.. They should even consider revamping the royal rumble into something that can be a little less boring and uneventful.

The rock once again got more air time than anyone else on the show except the main event.. The Rocks gimmick is outdated and not funny anymore. 50% of the segment was just him walking around and playing his entrance theme. I get that the Wyatts are jobbers.. Even the social outcasts have had more success than them since they formed. But Watching them get squashed by the rock is just ridiculous.

Seeing Austin was fun but it didn't feel right watching him play grab ass with two other people. Felt very forced and out of character.

HITC to me was a terrible match. Undertaker is so crippled its beyond suspended belief. I knew shane was going to make that jump the second the match was announced. Everything up until that point was horrible. Shane throwing those "speed punches" that the undertaker no sells looks so stupid. Lesnars HITC vs UT was way more violent and entertaining.

Ambrose vs Lesnar was exactly as lame as I thought it would be. No one has the balls to do a match as violent as Rock vs Mankind iquit match... That match will forever be the most violent match in wwe history. Ambrose did nothing cool, Lesnar has turned into a total bum that does nothing but suplexes. Granted he does a nice suplex.. But come on..

I thought the match between new day and LON was supposed to be for the tag titles? It doesn't make any sense that they had a non title match at WM... Then the LON won.. Then immediately lost all credibility by jobbing to a bunch of old cripples.

I'm glad the title is off HHH finally.. And its nice to see a fairly clean 1v1 match with a definitive winner for the WM main event. It woulda been better if HHH left the cheating attempts out though.

The at&t stadium is awesome. The outside firework display was impressive from that sky camera. There were way too many people there though. Chanting was almost non existent.. I did hear a bunch of people chanting "please don't die" over and over while shane was standing on top of HITC.. That was kinda funny.

I gotta say it was a pretty disappointing show. Not only because a lot of people I wanted to win lost but the match work and character development was pretty basic smackdown level work. I wanted to see Sasha do the 3 amigo suplexs and win the title.. I wanted to see Lesnar totally destroy Ambrose.. I wanted to see Shane land that drop and win. I don't like the new day turning face.. And I have 0 interest in seeing old man HHH do serious matches.

Get well soon Rollins

Best Match: Women's title match. And it didn't have an extended ending with Lita beating everyone up!

Everything else was in the 4-7 range.

Watch NXT and Lucha Underground every Wednesday!

I'm going to go eat a Snickers to wash the taste of Vince McMahon's shit out of my mouth.

4/10 overall.

HHH Vs. Roman Reigns - 4/10

And that's the bottom line.....

Hart-4-10-Shirt-358x300.jpg

Kalisto vs Ryback - *1/2
10 Divas Tag - N/A (missed it)
Dudley Boyz vs Uso's - *
IC Title Ladder Match - ***1/2
Styles vs Jericho - ***
New Day vs League of Nations - **
Brock vs Ambrose - **1/2
Charolette vs Sasha vs Lynch - ***1/2
Taker vs Shane - **1/2
Battle Royale - *
Reigns vs HHH - *1/2

Overall show: **

Very poor Wrestlemania.

Is anyone else noticing the trend in Wrestlemania events that everyone is supposed to be mesmerized in the spectacle of Wrestlemania and not realize they've been putting on extremely shitty matches?

With the exception of one or two matches, per event, I'll grant them. Otherwise, they're saying 'Fuck it, it's Wrestlemania. Fans will love whatever we put infront of them.'

I just finished watching 32, and the ladder match was the best match overall, and it wasn't THAT good.

In the Shane/Taker match, the only moments that were memorable were when the match looked like it was almost over. Then the Holy-Fucking-Shit-That-Was-Awesome dive off the cage, which actually makes up for the majority of the match that wasn't memorable. That earned the eternal respect for Shane McMahon that every wrestling fan will have for him.

As for Reigns/HHH - What a complete dissapointment. From the comic book villianess costume Stephanie wore and screaching speech she gave, to the lackluster match, and the boring finish... what a trainwreck. It could be one of the worst WM main events ever... and I'm a Roman Reigns fan. Only possible redeeming factor was Roman spearing Stephanie.

Speaking of Roman, I really want him to get over with the fans, but this gimmick of him just being the silent face isn't working. He needs to ditch the stupid and repetitive superman punch, get a new costume that isn't all black with a spider on the front of his shirt, and he needs to go heel. He's the most booed face champion of all time, and he's been booed forever with his current gimmick.

At the very least, he needs to be honest with the fans. It doesn't matter if he gets booed or cheered for. It really seems like he, and the WWE writers, want him to be cheered, but it ain't working.

He's a handsome bastard with a decent voice. Add just alittle passion and charisma, and he could get over, but apparently he doesn't have alittle of either.

Just finished watching Wrestlemania.

The presentation of the show (stage set up, lighting, sound etc) was top notch. I was particularly impressed with the sound system underneath the ring, as sound seems to be underrated by wrestlers nowadays (I miss foot stomps when punches are thrown). Adds to impact, thus authencity, thus match quality.

I was really glad to see The Rock, Austin, Foley and Shawn Michaels do their thing, also HHH, DDP and Lesnar. Pay attention to their pops and compare them to Cena and Roman Reigns, notice something?

I didn't watch the divas pre show match so I should check that one out. I think that Ryback finally has it and should be given a main event push.

Ladder match was great and much respect for Ryder to stick it out for all of these years and get his Wrestlemania moment/title run. Zayn was obviously MVP of that match though (twice in three days) and the title could benefit more from someone like him than Ryder. Good luck to Ryder though. Also Kevin Owens really put his body on the line for this one. That frog splash must have been hell on his insides for a man of that size and that suplex on the ladder was incredibly reckless.

AJ Styles V Chris Jericho was terrific, a match that looked a little rough, but the roughness represented fight and graft as far as I am concerned. AJ Styles probably should have won but Jericho really deserved the win here. As good as AJ is in the ring, I feel that Jericho has carried this feud due to his charismatic brilliance as an actor and with a stick. He is a man in his mid 40s who has wrestled hard in Japan and in the west, the hard way at a time when wrestlers weren't as concerned about safety as today. He had a slipped disk and so many miles, but he showed how fantastic he is in that ring last night.

New Day V League of Nations was ok but I'm not that big on any of them (aside from Rusev). New Day are funny and charismatic and all members of the LON are technically decent but I just wasn't invested in this match. Loved what happened after though.

Watching Lesnar is always fun, no matter who he is in the ring with. Ambrose was game and got in more than I expected. I also liked the street fight V wrestling angle, even though Lesnar should have just wrecked him on that account. Good showing, not great. Ambrose needs to hit the weights.

The triple threat for the Women's Title was also fun to watch and it is clear that all three of them really tried to steal the show. She may not have much of an arse and may not be that good on the stick but Charlotte has her character down with her mannerisms and her entrance made her look like a queen. She should stop bridging the Figure Four Leg Lock though. Sasha and Becky also performed excellently.

Hell in a Cell. Shane McMahon coming down to the ring with his kids was a nice touch as it added to him no longer being a rich kid, but a family man. His "wrestling" style had also matured, his punches looked better and I liked those BJJ and Muay Thai references, especially as he was never known as a wrestler, just a fighter. Undertaker was Undertaker. Big respect for Shane to perform that dive, although I would have preferred to see him hit it. Undertaker was solid but forgettable in that match.

I'm so goddamn glad that A) DDP got his spot in but more importantly, B) BARON CORBIN!. WWE absolutely made the right call on this one and I believe that Baron can be a big star and can do far better on the main roster than on NXT (due to NXT primarily being a showcase for technical wrestling instead of the WWE style that Corbin seems to use).

Roman Reigns V HHH really suffered due to creative direction, mainly due to the fact that the crowd HATED Roman. Stephanie McMahon stole this one with her entrance and her taking the spear. HHH was built to be a wrestler. He looks the part, acts the part and wrestles like...a wrestler, not a showman. As a complete package, he kind of showed Reigns up here, even though Reigns won. Roman really should have turned here, or they should have added someone else and have him win.

All in all, Wrestlemania was a very strong show, a spectacle for the most part that was really boosted by the megastars of the past and hindered by an anticlimactic final match (anticlimactic simply because of the RR creative). I'd highly recommend this event as a wrestling fan, but WWE need to take note of the fact that the Attitude Era wrestlers are still running rings around the newer talent.

I don't want to write forever so will just write about some of the bigger matches to me:

AJ/Y2J: Aj should've got the win here. Give him his moment and make him a bigger star. Should've won with the styles clash. They didn't even protect that move for him. With so many stars hurt they could've made new ones here at Wrestlemania where it counted. I assume this fued keeps going to the next ppv and AJ will likely get the Nod but won't have the same meaning. Missed chance due to dumb 50/50 booking.

Ambrose/Lesnar: felt it was a lack luster match. Thought maybe they would fight into the crowd or something wackier but nothing. Same situation with AJ , could've had Dean win and vault him into bigger status. I'm sure they're could've thought of something for Dean to win and Brock to still look like Brock in the end.

Women's triple threat: match of the night by far but wanted Sasha to win. Could've been her moment with beating Charlotte for the title to make it certain. I was pissed they didn't even catch Sasha doing the frog splash live. Only showed it fully on a replay. Props to Becky doing some great work but I knew she was gonna get pinned by someone but was hoping for Sasha to win this.

Hell in a cell: I wanted to see an interference from someone to help Shane win so he can be on Raw. So he gets Smackdown now ? Not sure. Dude has guts for taking that dive. Overall felt lackluster.

Main event: Too many spots where HHH did one thing and Roman hit him with the same damn thing. Very random. Crowd felt out of it. Prolly since the show was 10 hrs long. Well done on Steph taking the spear. Roman should've turned heel at the end.

3/10

PS: are the Wyats unofficial jobbers now ? Bray looks great , great entrance , can talk and wrestle but damn they don't win so it hurts his promos when he's talking all this shit and just loses in the end anyways :/

Kalisto/Ryback - the storyline just doesn't work. weak match. nothing special. looked like a match on RAW.

Divas tag match - very poor. very predictable and forgettable

Usos/Dudleys - ugh. same comment as the Divas tag match

Ladder match for IC - very good match to kick off the main show. good fight sequences and highlights. thought Zayn had it in the bag, but I'm okay to see the title change hands in this event than be retained

Y2AJ - not bad, but nothing new to see. expected more from both. story line really sucked and very shallow.

LON/New day - really an average match. nothing worth remembering but the ending when some legends enter in the end. that part was entertaining.

Brock/Dean - huge letdown. disappointing match/showing from both. definitely didn't live up to the lowest expectations. nothing much to say about this.

Triple threat divas match - now this is the match of the night! highly entertaining. great sequences and lots of highlights. Charlotte's back flip outside the ring was amazing! Becky worked and wrestled really great! all 3 of them delivered. Sasha looked great and had a new look/make up so I expected her to win, that would have been cool. this is the only match worth talking about

Undertaker/Shane - match was way too slow and too bland up until Shane jumped off the top of the cell. cool to see some MMA moves applied. Shane really carried the match more. Undertaker shows that his age has taken it's toll and he's just doing this for the love of the wrestling/WWE. respect to him though

Battle Royal - It was okay. Had a good laugh at Shaq and Fandago part when he act's like shooting the ball then dancing. that was hilarious! Also DDP doing the Diamond cutter! Bang! Good decision to let a new face like Corbin win.

The Rock/Rowan/Cena/Wyatt - cool to see Rock but I barely have a reaction. I respect the guy but I gotta say his theatrics has lost some awesomeness seeing him do it over and over, like annually every WM. it was super predictable. the only thing that stood out to me and it's pretty cool to see is when Rock praise Bray Wyatt for doing a good job on his craft, having the charisma, and hear the audience applause Bray. that was really cool. John Cena entering the match was a bathroom break for me.

Roman/HHH - it was fine. good but not that great, but still delivered as a main event for me. not really a Roman fan after the Shield breakup, but I never really understood the boos. I admit the WWE should listen to these boos and start booking him properly. in the end it's nice to see the title change hands from a legend to a young guy who's been working his ass off the whole year, managed to stay healthy and doesn't have a jackass character on the show. still much respect to HHH.

Rating on the event was:
4/10
