And by MMA standards, he does have god tier striking. He is a much shorter fighter with a weight and reach disadvantage and yet he played with Diaz in both fights. 99% of Diaz's success came in close range

I think Conor has a much better chance of catching Khabib than Edson did. Edson is primarily a kicker and Conor has much more accurate and powerful punches than him. I think there's a better chance of Khabib getting caught by a punch than a kick. Conor could definitely catch Khabib, but I wouldn't necessarily bet on it.

Conor isn't as technically skilled or quick as Edson and regardless of what people think about him, he got beat up for a round by a totally out of shape Mendes. Conor probably makes it out of the first round but not with anything left to win the fight.
Basically if Khabib can avoid a straight and an uppercut he's not going to see much of a challenge. There isn't an objective person who thinks Mcgregor fairs any better than Barboza.

There’s no basis in fact to saying that Barboza is better on the ground than Conor.

Conor tooled Holloway on the deck, was fine on the bottom under Mendes and has shown glimpses of sweeps etc.

The argument for going “Khabib doesn’t need to have striking cause his wrestling is brilliant” is similar to saying “Conor doesn’t need ground because his striking is so deadly.”

Let’s also not forget that Conor is someone who cuts weight in large quantity even better than Khabib, and is massive at 155lb
