This link is about virtually all NFL teams cutting down on two a days and training camp time in general. This is how I have been thinking lately in terms of balancing my lifting and bjj. Not to mention there really is no true offseason. I feel freshest when training bjj 3-4 times a week and lifting 1-2 times. When I bump it up in either category the other thing suffers and I feel I am flatter and get less benefit out of bjj or weight lifting.

It really is a bitch that you cant train as much as you "like to"... I usually dial in around there no matter what I "plan", around 3-4 mma sessions and 1 to 2 sessions of strength training.. I plan to crank up my training now for a while but have no illusions that I will be able to keep a more strenous schedule for an unlimited time, I do however believe that in short periods that it can be beneficiall to really train alot, and then do some backing of...

I totally agree Krellik. Lately I have been able to train mma more, two weeks before I wasn't able to for a whole week and i just lifted more. With grad school coming up I'm trying to squeeze in the bjj/mma.

i think it very much depends on how you structure your non-training life. if i eat like a maniac, sleep a lot and the weather is cool but not cold, i feel great irregardless ofhow much i train. but right now it's really hot, my appetite is off, so i feel weak even though i don't train alot.

I agree. it's hard to not overtrain. i think it's from watching these alla ccess show and seeing fighters like tito train twice a day six times a week. makes me think i can do it. but my body wont let me. i hate training 2 sessions in a day becuase the second session always takes a hit. if i traing weights in the morning and thai at night, i have nothing to give in thai at all.

Less is more and more is even morer.

I agree with the article wholeheartedly. If they make the training sessions count why kill themselves a second time. These guys have grueling schedules as it is.

I'm the other way around. Weight Lifting was first and then I got into MMA, so I tend to lift 3x per week and train MMA 2x. Any more than that and my body shuts down.

In the beginning, I was that guy who tried to lift 5x per week and do MMA on top of that. LOL, that didn't last long.

THUNDER THUNDER THUNDER THUNDERCATS!!!

sorry... just being a bit anti-boredom, pro-random!

I always like the Mr T character on that show

But how sad is it to see your lifts go down? I went down on all my lifts when I started MMA training..
