Leon Does Not Deserve a Title Shot

How embarrassing, he was almost TKO'd by a pillow fisted journeyman in Nate Diaz. There are legitimately refs that would have called that fight when his knees buckled.
FUN FACT reminder: Conor got his TS off a very close Majority Decision win over the aforementioned "pillow fisted journeyman" after being subbed by him prior.

Yes, there are referees that would have stopped the fight in the 5th round after Diaz put Leon onto Queer Street.

Nsme one fight in the UFC, where a ref stopped a fight standing with someone defending intelligently.

No he doesn't. But that's never stopped Dana before

Yeah, the guy who lost to him and then beat 1 over the hill guy who just got dropped deserves it vs. the guy who just won like a billion fights in a row.

Might have been judged close and some people absurdly claim Nate won, or think it was super close...

But it wasn't. It's just because Conor is expected to finish people so if he doesn't it looks like he kinda lost, but he very handily won three and very arguably 4 out of 5 rounds. There's only 1 round Nate clearly won,
That's not close to close.

Not really my point. TS is acting like Nate Diaz is some bum that everyone can finish...

Not really, Askren was ranked #5 at the time and Nate called him out afterwards for a high profile fight in MSG. Then he got 2 shots at Kamaru Usman. All of those fights were way more important than Edwards at the time. It's probably the fight to make at this point if Jorge wants to stay highly ranked though.

Ball is in his court then...

And Edwards doesn't have the power to KO anyone, as we have seen from his padded win streak.

Edwards is hardly a favourite of ufc nor does he raise the hype meter so its bizarre to suggest his record is padded. Yet he has beaten everyone he has fought for many years. And he didn't need to KO them to beat them...

1. Didn't get TKO'd though did he?
2. If Nate's pillowfisted, how did he "almost TKO Leon"?
3. Learn what a journeyman is

Didn't need, or couldn't?

So he got caught with a punch in the later part of the 5th round and survived. The guy completely dominated the fight, it was not even close. This is fighting people get caught by a punch or kick all the time. You got to give him credit for surviving that onslaught and dominating the fight.

He looked fantastic for 90% of the fight. He got caught, shit happens. What matters is that he survived and still comfortably won the fight.

This is such an alien topic. You don’t understand why the Diaz bros are so popular.

their talent is absolutely immense and only really matched by how bad their fight iq is

every single person in the octagon and at home know exactly what the Diaz bros are gonna do and yet they still make early every fight close and exciting

if they used actual game plans per opponent both of them especially Nate would be all time greats

Their talent is not immense. They're good boxers, tough as nails, have good cardio, and are good off their backs. Otherwise, they aren't especially talented. Neither can wrestle worth a shit, they don't have much power in their hands, neither are especially strong or athletic, and they don't know how to defend leg kicks after nearly 20 years in the game.

Masvidal got 2 title shots for beating Nate, Conor got one for getting finished by him then winning a coin flip decision.

Pillow fisted??..he rocked him in the 5th... Most guys dont have power in the fifth ..

Also journeyman is funny cuz there this thing called ...level of competition...

Sure you could be 15 -0 beating guys with negative records and no wiki pages...or you could have alittle more varied success rate but face the most difficult and biggest matches you can get time and time again...

Diaz is always a threat because hes fought nothing but tough competition his entire career...both diaz bros have and have never been blown out of the water or stopped flat out ever...that is the mark of a true fighter... Someone chasing the challenges and meets them head on...

Not only facing the guys that work for your style...diaz could of had a better record if he only fought those that fit his style best...but he also wouldnt be the legend he is today..

And that is why im a Diaz fan... They show up..favored or not...good match up or not..easy fight or not...their FIGHTERS thru and thru

For example

Nates second MMA fight was against Koji Oishi , who was 11-4 (25-10 now and previous One FC champion) and it was at 168lbs and lost by decision...compare that to the guys near the top now...they beat dudes who didnt even have winning records for there first fights lol...

For comparison leon edwards 2nd opponent was someone who never fought pro before...lol

Well yeah, cause he gonna need some finishing if he want to test Usman or other top WW. You seriously think he is gonna beat them on a decision?

Usman and Covington are certainly the two top fighters in his division and are probably ahead of him. Still, being the 3rd best is nothing to be ashamed of and for him to fight those two would sill be a very interesting fight.

He faded in the 3rd and started going for jogs...and lost the last 3 rounds...you shouldnt wins when your turning ur back and running from ur opponent lol .. literally the definition of timidity lol
