Hey guys, just a few things about leglocks. Im an ok leglock guy, have solid technique and good defence to them, but they seem to carry with them a stigma that if u use them u are somehow an inferior grappler to those who only focus on upper body techniques, why is this? i mean its only attacking a different bodypart and one which imo i find easier to attack than an arm, especially against smaller guys (Im 6"3 and about 225 so I have trouble armbarring guys with small guys and stumpy limbs). I know people will say they are dangerous in mma cos they expose u to headstrikes but if u apply them correctly it shouldnt be any more of a risk than applyin any other bottom technique.

Also does any one know of any advanced leg lock instructionals??! Im lookin to refine my techniques.

Thanks.

p.s- i cant use the search function cos my computer is actin up so sorry if this has been done before.

justin ellison leg locks is pretty good mix of sambo and jj locks.

If you are in a comp or train at a school where leg locks are cool 2 use then use them. If someone ever moans to you about it then ignore it .. it's their problem. I don't really like leg locks .. not for any particular reason I just prefer triangles, armbars etc. Saying that there are some beautiful leg locks out there just I never find myself going for them even in no gi. It's the same as blonde or brunettes .. i prefer brunettes but I'll fuck a blonde .. hope I haven't gone off the topic :icon_chee.

The reason being that people say or suggest it makes you an inferior grappler is that it could "possibly" make you a lazier grappler (by that I mean just resorting to leg locks). Ideally IMO I think people should focus on passing the guard before getting into leg locks. Personally I'd rather be an awesome guard passer than an awesome leg lock guy.

Erik Paulson, gokor have good leglock instructionals, they show too many moves, but good nontheless.

I love working from the bottom and I love triangles and omoplatas. I also love chokes from the top. But why limit yourself, my aim is to be a complete grappler, not a leglock guy, but imo you're not complete if u ignore leglocks no matter how good the rest of your game is.

AS for laziness, I stopped goin for them altogether to focus on passing and that is very importasnt. But dont forget u dont need to be in someones guard to get a leg!!!

besides the others mentioned, Yakimov has a good one. You can also check mine out. Both are available at budo videos.

You can rent the Yakimov set as well as a ton of other BJJ , Sambo , MMA ,ETC at Bushido DVDs .com !
