So I was rolling with this dude he said he never trained before he only knew from YouTube. So I was taking it easy with him. At first I tapped him fairly easily and I was attempting to do some new techniques. I went to do one of those groin ripper things fucked it up and got put in a toe hold and within a second he cranked it as hard as he could and I heard a sickening crack. I was able to walk it off but it's still really sore around the Achilles .. I'm really embarrassed getting my foot fukked up from someone who said he had no formal training considering iv been doing jiu jitsu formally and consistantly for a year and a half. First off, I know I need to practice my ass off now. It was really humbling. Second what should I do with my foot. And what cracked

thats why you dont roll with "selftaught" people without laying down some serious rules first.

tape that shit up, cortison shot, shot of adrenalin, wrap hands in gummy bears via charlie sheen in hot shots part deux proceed to fly gogo penocha on that ass!!!
:icon_lol:

Haha I really kinda feel like shit about it.. would it happened in a fight I don't know... I think I coulda just been taking it easy on him but I really got caught in it. It's messed up

sounds like your pride is hurt pretty bad , learn from it and move on and dont get caught in it again.

Ive heard my achilles pop a couple of times. It scares the shit out of me but so far nothing bad has come of it. You would know if it was major.

well, footlocks are fairly easy to do, and if you have only a year and a half, probably havent done so much footlocking defense, alson, why on earth would you roll with someone with no prior training but youtube with leg attacks allowed? no fucking way, and this is exactly the case, dude is probably rolling for his life, you are chilling, dude doesnt even know hwo to apply pressure and feels humillated by you, dude proceeds to crank the fuck out of waht ever he gets a hold of, usually theres no problems, because he would try to crank your skull if he gets a hold of, very easy to escape after they are gassed and see there is no reason to keep cranking that... but when they get a hold of your foot, then you are in trouble, specially if you dont know how to defend it...

What are any techniques to stop footlocks?

Well you have two options there, you can either train with footlocks, or tap then stand up and kick your unsuspecting partner in the face and tell him to "never fucking do that again, douchebag" then steal his belt and run him out of the academy.

If you haven't been put in a toe hold before the ligaments in your ankle can be tight and the cracking you heard was them being stretched. Ice it down and stretch them and you should be fine. If you knew he was new as soon as he grabbed you should have stopped him not worth getting hurt over in my opinion.

I know I should have. And I hope it's just that. It hurts turning it around in a circle

It's popped and will take a few weeks to get back to 100%. Just train carefully and tap early to ankle locks or toeholds and it should be fine.

Get over it.

Surely you've been told to keep the ego off the mat before. So, keep the ego off the mat. Wins and losses don't matter, and you should have tapped sooner.

why would any instructor in their sane mind allow first timers to roll?
why would you let somebody that has no experience roll without rules?
why the fuck would you walk off something like a popped achilles??!
