I’m torn. There is definitely something to be said about hearing major criminals discuss their lives and their crimes, but the flip side of that is you risk glamorizing them and turning them into a “fuckin legend m8, LEGEND!” Simply because they’re criminals.

Also hearing him talk about how good he was, while also having gone back to watch his fights...... nah mate, the sport and the fighters have come a long way.

The guy was a brawler who talked a lot of shit, and did back it up a lot, but still just an average fighter turned criminal. His heist made him more famous than he would have been as a fighter.
 
Writer knows you don't have to keep saying "alleged" once the dude has been convicted, right? Especially if he doesn't exactly trip over himself to deny it?
 
I met him once back in 2002 on a flight to Greece. I had no idea about MMAs development (especially in the UK) as I had not followed it since the very first UFCs and no idea who he was. He was a right "Geezer" but was perfectly friendly. We had a few beers on the plane with some Brit DJ we were sitting next to.
 
I mean, murray can definitely talk about mcgregor, since they're both criminals

He showed a lot of potential though (For was the game was back then, circa 2001-2002). He was a very heavy hitter and a fast learner, and showed hart the scarce that he need it. In that period, remember him sometimes showing surprisingly light (The number 179 lbs got stuck in my memory, and thats soaking wet) and looking nothing like the older pics of him that appeared in the SFUK website.
 
Lol'd at the Tony the Tiger comment but he's truly delusional. So let me get this straight.. You think you're a better MMA fighter than Conor because you were fighting in prisons when you were 16.

He has made a great impact. There can be no hiding from the fact he has done a good job and helped a great deal with the growth of the sport. Having said that, I don’t think he has done any more than I would have done.

Pfft let’s see you pull off a bank robbery like that. Joke = Cody McKenzie and/or Andy Wang. Murray was a legit bad ass in and out of the cage - literally. He was only caught because of his crew. Not glorifying crimes, but the guy wasn’t/isn’t dumb. You need smarts to pull off an operation like that. He was allegedly he brains behind it all. Dana was scared of the guy. He showed serious potential as a fighter. He was anything but a joke.
 
Lee Murray is cool in my book. He wasn't just an average fighter. He had a great future ahead of him, whether it's world top 10 or not, I'd say so given how weak middle weight division was at the time. When you make Anderson silva wanna double leg you and you are a striker, you are pretty decent, much better than just average fighter.

He definitely has become that way. If he got out of prison tomorrow and somehow got back in the UFC, he most likely gets destroyed. Back in his day he was very good and becoming pretty popular, wasn’t he? He never would’ve been Conor but hey he’s just talking shit, just like Conor does. They both say ridiculous things but it does get your attention lol.

See, I rewatched the fight just a couple weeks ago when someone posted a link in here.... that “double leg” shtick is exclusive to Murray’s pre-fight interview and in reference to his fight with Landis-Jons. Silva was under zero threat on the feet in that fight. Back in the day I was totally all about Murray and UK mma, but in retrospect, even in that fight, Murray looks way out classed that whole fight, everywhere it went.

Lol I’ve had probably just as many or maybe even more. I showed up in 2009 and the mods were a little crazy back then. They’d ban you just because they disagree with you - without even replying to you to debate it, they just f’n banned you. I’m sure you remember those days.
