at 43 he rolled off his couch and went to a decision with DC a weight class above his own.
at 45 he went toe to toe and gave izzy the toughest fight of his life aside from Jan.
He isnt a prime athlete any longer but he still has enough heart and meddle to compete not only with the best and scariest guys in the world, but also in unfamiliar territories as well.

This is why Anderson is the GOAT. Its not just his accomplishments in the cage, its the willingness to go places other fighters have never gone even in his late 40s.

gsp crawled out of the sport at 32 after being gifted one of the WORST decisions in the history of sport against a 70% Hendricks. Georges was bloodied and beaten terribly in that fight. So much so, he ran out of dodge never to be seen or heard from again until he cherry picked a 40 year old one eyed lucky champ.
Bones is bulking up but he has yet to accept a fight at hw and hes only 33.
Anderson is doing what no one else has really done in the sport. Maybe Randy comes in 2nd but he couldnt cross over into boxing and beat a former champ with a huge name in their home country.

A bit generous to say that Chavez Jr. is the highest level in boxing. Still, it was probably the best showing an MMA fighter has ever had in boxing, the fact Anderson did it at 46 makes it all the more impressive. It was a good palate cleanser for the sport after Askren vs Paul

I gained real respect for AS when he went up a weight class to fight DC on very short notice. He did this knowing that he would probably get wrestle fucked. He's kinda like a smarter, more coordinated, more successful version of the Diaz brothers.

Anderson Silva is a fuckin G. You can tell he took that seriously and didn't just show up to collect a paycheck, he was the best possible version of himself that he could be at 46 years old, and that 46 year old just so happens to still be a monster.

Anderson had every intention of winning that fight last night despite having no business winning it. Chavez has been washed for a long time, but he is a seasoned boxer who knows his way around a ring and has much more skill than Silva. He lost that fight shockingly but fair and square.

All that said, you fuckers need to respect the legends of this unforgiving sport more. Even if you don't like him, he's undeniably a legend.

    Silva is the GOAT.

While others retire at age 32 and duck multiple title fights because they are scared to damage their ‘legacy’, mid to late 40s Silva is still dominating former boxing world champions 11 years his junior.

Anderson in his Prime would have been a top boxer as well.

Agreed, but Chavez Jr is widely considered a bum here in Mexico, most agree that while he might not had been all that bad he made it because of his last name and its been on a decline for years.

Why does this keep getting thrown around. That fight was arguably the best Hendricks has ever looked. Because after the first Robbie fight, was that 50% Hendricks in the second Robbie fight? Then we got to see 30% Hendricks after he lost the belt. The GSP and 1st Robbie fight was the best Hendricks has ever looked.

He had a very very brief run where his ability to hit hard to the body and cut an enormous amount of weight and rehydrate to like 200lbs overnight. He's pretty bad in reality. Good for Anderson though. Very happy for him. Glad he won

That freakshow wasn't close to the highest levels but it was impressive.
