But ... but ... can crusher ...

Don't confuse the haters with facts.

I thought Fujita was top 15 around the time they fought. Also, Fedor has 2 wins over Nog.

Fujita at the time he fought Fedor was in top-30 ranked worldwide according to fightmatrix website.

Looks about right. What's the point?
Not long ago i saw a thread about Spider's 18 wins over top-15 ranked worldwide fighters,so i decided to start similar admiration topic about another MMA GOAT and on the eve of upcoming fight against Meathead.

Fedor #1. It's not just his wins but how he fought.

Agreed,by the way some fighters he fought ,who werent in top-15 ranked worldwide - still were tough oponents, heavyweight is dangerous weight class. Brock Lesnar for example had almost no experience in MMA and wasnt ranked, but still defeated some of the best heavyweights in the UFC, sizes does matter.

Don't use Fightmatrix historical generated rankings, they're generated by software 15 years later and do no represent real rankings and place of fighters in MMA world at that time.

Find instead archived original rankings from that time, search forums and use web archive sites:

GSP has 17 top 5 wins. Let that soak in!

That makes them more credible, not less. We can look back with all of the data available and see where everybody really stood. Not only that but it can be done with a powerful computer that can crunch more calculations than a human brain.

They are nonsense and not accurate.

For example:

01/01/2001

1
NL.png
Semmy Schilt 18-9-0

2
US.png
Mark Coleman 11-4-0

3
JP.png
Keiichiro Yamamiya 23-13-5

Of course, nobody in reality considered Schilt to be no. 1 and Yamamiya to be no. 3 at that time. Totall nonsense. It doesn't matter what will some computer calculate 15 years later with some formulas, those are not real opinions of MMA community and media about rankings and placement of fighters in ceratin time.

Only important thing are original data which represent opinions of MMA public at certain time.

Weakest weight class in MMA history. Names like Rogers,Goodridge,Semmuy etc... are laughable when trying to talk someone up as the GOAT.

Even Hunt in 2006 and Coleman at the time is pushing it all of which I watched live so dont give me the new fan bullshit, Coleman was already a time machine at that point and Hunt had a huge ground game weakness and got subbed easily by Josh the fight before. Tim was also on the tail end of being a top fighter with his only win in w years being a 2 - 1 win over Vera who he had to dry hump with his 40lbs weight advantage after Vera broke his hand.

Cro Cop, Nog and AA were all great wins but most of the other ones are super easy to pick apart and instead of highlighting someone as the GOAT serve more as a way to prove how crappy the HW class has alwayd been.

I don't put much stock in mma media ranking's, they have to play nice with certain companies or risk things like press credentials.

The general MMA community of the time we have limited records of.
